All I know is, if we have to have Jenks and Fields to get any pressure, then why are we paying such a large sum to the other average players, or at least players who show up averagely most times?

Do you see me saying that, HeadAche? I just got finished saying that we can win ballgames as long as our stupid ass QB isn't giving away points to the other team. Our defense isn't dominant by any means, and we can't rush the passer worth shit, but we can play well enough to win if we stopping turning the god damned ball over.

And as for Peppers, he is not double-teamed anywhere near as often as people think. For a DE to be double-teamed, he either needs to have that side's guard allocated to him, a TE helping if one is on that side, or a back assigned with helping the RT. The guard is almost never assigned to help the RT with Peppers, although his annoying tendency to duck inside means that he often brings himself into a double-team by rushing into the RG. Considering how often we're burned by the TE, I think everyone can realize that teams almost never leave the TE in to help the RT with Peppers, and in fact, there have been more than a few times when teams have tried to block Peppers with just the TE (those tend to be the only times he consistently gets pressure). I haven't seen too many times when the back helps out either, so that leaves you with what exactly? Who is this mysterious offensive player that keeps helping the RT with Peppers? What position does he play and what times during the game can I look it up so that I too can see the presence of this mysteriously invisible double-team.

The sad fact is that most teams don't feel that they need to double-team Peppers, and the sadder fact is that they're right. Pepp doesn't consistently beat his man the way Freeney or Strahan do, and he never has.

^^^Why do you think pep gets all this hype, yet he doesnt produce nearly as much as freeney? Freeney is the best end to come out of that draft.Do you think is desire, scheme or just "football talent" that makes freeney so mucch more dominant than pep?

Technique. Peppers doesn't have Freeney's speed, but he has more than enough talent to dominate opposing tackles. Unfortunately he stands up about 75% of the time, and often slides down the line towards the guard. His technique is piss poor, both in terms of his leverage and controlling contact, and he's not going to be as good as everyone hopes until he actually shows some improvement in that area. He needs to stay low, he needs to keep charging forward, and he needs to use his hands better.

okay so i guess i have my homework. i'll try to chart it the last game for the 1st half (since i didn't tape most of the second half) ... won't get into an argument as to if he is as good as other players but hopefully can prove he gets double-teamed a lot

We usually blitzed only 1. Easy to pick up. Against NE we blitzed 2 or 3. You have to really overload, like Miami did with us.

It's not just a matter of how many you blitz, but where. Most of the times we blitzed with 2 LBs against the Patriots, it achieved little, but when we blitzed off the corner we managed to disrupt Brady's timing. And actually Miami didn't often blitz more than 2 players out of their 3-4 look, or 1 out of their 4-3, meaning they had the same amount of rushers that we did. The difference is that their players did a better job of getting to the quarterback, and they had better schemes as to where they blitzed from. That's the part where I'll blame Trgovac. The Dolphins would blitz multiple guys into the right side of the line, meaning there weren't enough blockers, while we would just run guys right up the middle into the scrum.

Well, we blitzed two linebackers A LOT vs. Miami. But they were the same blitzes, and the backers were trying to squeeze through the gaps....Our most effective blitze was when we were in the 34 and Morgan ran a fake delay, dropped into coverage, and Ciurciu came with it. Thats the thing with blitzing. I dont want to blitz just to blitz. If you cant blitz worth a shit, youre taking players out of the playing field....youre leaving 6 guys against their 5 OL, and if its not effective, youre fucking yourself. I just want to blitz BETTER. From more angles. Stack blitz for fucking God's sake! Show the blitz and drop back, fake the goddamn blitz, delay your fucking blitzes, and get teh goddamn fucking quarterback wondering what the fuck to DO!!!!!! GODDAMN TRGO USES THE SAME FUCKING BLITZ AND athe fucking players telegraph their shit half the fucking time!!!!!!!!!! GOd DAMN I dont know why its so fucking hard for the thick ********** to GRASP!!!!

Agreed with the loss of Fields. The presence of #58 on the field cant be overstated. Therefore the absence can't either.

:agreed: I don't mind people criticizing Trgovac, I just want them to do it for the right reasons. The problem isn't that we don't blitz enough (if anything, we blitz more than I'd like), but rather that we do it the same ways; ways we know don't work for us consistently. I do think much of that against the Dolphins came from worrying about not exposing the secondary with Lucas out, but we'll see if there is any improvement once he returns.
