thinking about getting a nice flat panel for my pc. what's the current winner? i've seen dells that look very nice (i love my laptop's display). the mac flat panels are very nice, but unnecessarily expensive, i believe.

I don't know what the latest and greatest is, but I do know that if I were in the market, it'd have to do with price and size. There would have to be a good combination. Normally that's not much of a consideration with flat-screens, which is why I have a 21". I'd rather have that than a smaller flat-panel.

Dell 2001FP or 2405FP are the deal. Lot's of coupons and discounts for Dell stuff make these very affordable.

yeah, i was looking at the 2005fpw/2405fpw. i read something that said it was not so great for games, but maybe they were just saying it can't play games at 60fps. i tend not turn up my settings anyway. i'd rather have 30 nice frames per second than 60 sketchy ones.

from what i've been reading, the dell 20" compares pretty well to the 20" apple cinema display (same panel, different light). i'm assuming the 24" is based on the same panel as the 23" apple.

it's just over $1000 from dell right now (15% off). the 20" goes for $700 (also direct of dell).

The ones I've been looking at have really crappy resolution. They have the same resolution as the 17" flat panels that cost about $100 less. So, if you have a larger screen, but the same resolution, won't the images be blurred?

If you keep an eye out on slickdeals.net or techbargains.com you can get the dell 20" for less than $400. I have 2 now and love them. The are the exact same monitor as the mac in a differnt enclosure.
