    Re evaluate

Most of the time I*can*at least partially*see Magnus' point.*Not, however, regarding Art Modell, one of the most talented and one of the most Benedict Arnold-ish people in NFL history.

For one, he was a fine owner for Cleveland for 20+ years, right?
Two, he was passed over for a new stadium, when the Cavs, Indians, and the R&R HoF all got tons and tons of money.
Three, he still fields a competitive team in a city that needed football. Cleveland fans might be bitter, but I cannot fault Art Modell.

Well as a die hard Browns fan and life long resident of Ohio......I can tell you that you ain't got all the facts about what was and wasn't given to Model and why.

That move was front page headlines for a long time here......

So when in all that did they get a new stadium that I missed? Tell me all about it.

When did he make resonable request to the city? Please note I said reasonable. Art the Fart got a lot of money for moving the team to Baltimore and no one blames him for making money but he never gave the city the opportunity to keep the team. Decisions were made behind closed doors.

Jerry funded the Panthers and its stadium himself, of course.

And I'm well aware that Modell's a dick. He's also brilliant. The thing that our jaded Browns fan is missing here, of course, is that Charlotte was all but falling over itself to build a new downtown stadium and not only did Shinn find ways out of that, he also found a way out of a partnership with Michael Jordan that would've given him literally a blank check to do basically anything in the league.

So you don't think it's reasonable to think you're getting the raw end of the deal when you're in the most delapidated public building in the state and lesser entities are getting millions thrown at them? I can understand you being angry as a Browns fan, but Modell moved a potential playoff team to a team who'd already lost a team years ago, got a new stadium, got what he wanted, got a championship, and then bowed out gracefully. He hurt Cleveland, but he did the best thing for his business and his team BY FAR.

That, and the fact you probably know as little about George Shinn as possible, really make me wonder why you're down my throat for this.

I'd figure a Baltimore man would know how it is.
