yes...which would most likely be a 1-2 year contract at most, with the min. salaries

His original deal was like for minimum anyway. The diff between a 3rd round and a 6th round contract is usually only the signing bonus, and the length. His original deal was likely for 3 years. If he develops, we've lost the investment we made in trading the length for the bonus. But it looks like he would love to sign something mimimum anyway. Its doubtful that he would explode. Run stuffers often develop slowly.

    From the site:

The way I read that, it sounds like Durde actually does count. I was hoping he didn't. If he does though, we only have one spot left. My first guess would be a QB (not Rutherford) or a cornerback.

Well, I don't know. Read this from panthers.com:

    Panthers establish practice squad
    September 4, 2005

    Panthers.com

The Carolina Panthers have signed six players to their practice squad, the team announced Sunday. All six players were with the Panthers through the preseason and were waived in the final cut down to 53 players.
    PRACTICE SQUAD
    Pos Player Exp College
    DT Lorenzo Alexander R California
G Joe Berger R Michigan Tech
    FB Casey Cramer 2 Dartmouth

    DT Atiyyah Ellison R Missouri
    WR Efrem Hill R Samford

    LB Sean Tufts 2 Colorado

Also on the Panthers practice squad is linebacker Aden Durde. Durde, who is from England, was placed on the practice squad as part of the NFL International Development Practice Squad program. He will remain on Carolina's practice squad for the duration of the 2005 season and cannot be cut or promoted to the active roster.

Each NFL club may carry a maximum of eight players, excluding NFL International Development Practice Squad players, on its practice squad. Practice squad players may not play in games without being signed to the 53-man active roster.

So, I don't know if we carry the normal 8 or if we're allowed 9. I'm so totally confused now!

Don't know. What's odd is that the stuff I quoted is from that same article, only the last paragraph reads differently now:

No mention of the international exemption. Weird.

I'd say it wouldn't really be fair to count him if they can't actually do anything with him.

Panthers add 6 to practice squad

Third-round draft pick Atiyyah Ellison, a defensive tackle, was among six players signed to the eight-man practice squad by the Carolina Panthers.

Also added were defensive tackle Lorenzo Alexander, fullback Casey Cramer, receiver Efrem Hill, guard Joe Berger and linebacker Sean Tufts.

All six had been released when the team made its final roster cut to 53 on Saturday.

The Panthers also list linebacker Aden Durde on the practice squad, leaving one opening, which will likely be filled today.

My conclusion, reached before also, is that many of our beat reporters make up stuff as they go.

from what I read here we cannot use Durde all year, so he would not count as one of the 8 on the PS. and I would think that the teams site would be right
