If you buy either the full the upgrade package and insert the CD, it'll walk you through it.

One doesn't upgrade from XP Home to XP Pro it's not possible. You buy the Full version of Windows XP Pro and totally format and reinstall your PC unless you want to duel boot. The only good thing in this case is if you have any driver disks for Home they'll work with Pro.

Not exactly. You definitely don't have to format, but you are essentially doing a new install (data being left on the disc is important, noting that you have to re-install applications is also important).

The upgrade is sold along side the full version of XP Pro. It's not cheap, but it is considerably less expensive than buying the full version.

It probably isn't different than a regular install. The difference is that it knocks out the Home build without formating your system partition.

Dude, you just run the install but choose NOT to wipe the partition. It'll ask you to confirm, overwriting Windows directory will happen, and then it just goes. No different than installing over Win2k or NT4...
