Right now we have yet to find one player test positive for anything. So what bothers me more than anything is the fact that witch hunts are still alive and well in this world.

    A blurb from PFT:

From the "Now Here's A Trumped-Up Marketing Tie-In That Actually Has Some Relevance" file, CVS is the official pharmacy of the Cowboys (the Panthers apparently are going with Rite Aid).

So far it sounds like coaches and management knew nothing about what the players were doing with Shortt. Sounds like it was a player (the 49er guy?) who "spread the word" in the lockerroom. In a perfect world none of our guys would have gone near Shortt or used illegal substances, but I agree, we may be the ones in the spotlight right now, but it's going on all over the place - doesn't make it right, but it also doesn't make us the rogue druggies of the league.

Nowhere in the post did I mention that I'm a complete dumbass.

I'm aware that people are going to do things. But the team who I support, who represents my hometown, that I buy season tickets every year for, that I pay 5.50 for several beers a game for, that I stand up on defense for, I want my team to not cheat.

    What's the big damned deal?

Fanz, dude. There are times I need prescriptions, none of which I've ever had to drive to Spartanburg for.

I'd rather not win than to win by using steroids. And as far as the franchise is concerned, I think we've gotten off remarkably easy. Not only did we avoid suspensions or fines, but the media never really seemed to spend much time on the story, or at least not half as much as they did with baseball.

It's not right if they did but, it was a personal decision to do it, just as it would be if one of them decided to snort cocaine but, if the team knew and turned a blind eye that's when it gets deeper than a bad individual decision.

I don't believe that the team knew though. I've been a fan since day 1 and that's just not the way the Richardson's have built the franchise, if the team would have known the would have taken immediate action IMHO.

You mean like how he has continued to employ every drunk driver and domestic abuser until the team no longer needs that player or feels they have a better starting option? Richardson talks a big game, but the Panthers have absolutely never lived up to their words, whether it's a player getting a DUI or choking his coach or beating his wife. That said, I doubt the team knew for sure that anyone was taking steroids. Yet the team obviously benefited from it, unlike the hypothetical cocaine use.

I certainly hope this is the end of it, but one thing still bugs me about it. The team has always been VERY involved in the medical care that their players get. How is it that they had no knowledge that their players were travelling an unusally long distance to see a doctor?

I guessing they went on their own time. It's not like they were going to tell the Panthers that they were going to go see some whacked out Dr. that gives prescriptions for steriods.
