I thought Mixon sucked. We had to leave after the Sam Mills jersey retirement ceremony (small kids needing to get to bed) and we listened to him on the radio. It sounded like he was rooting for the Redskins and when he wasn't rooting for the Skins, you couldn't tell what was going on. Who just ran for 16 yds? Was it a fumble or not? Did we just score?

I, for one, will not turn the radio on during away games to listen. I guess I'll have to endure the tv guys. Mixon was awful!

FWIW, the TV duo (and that goober Yannity) really do suck, and no, you don't give them "time to get better" considering they've got all of three weeks left. Past that, same for the radio trio in that it's allright to judge them now - it's a product. It's not supposed to be something that they should have to develop over time, it should be good from the outset.

Mixon's monotone just doesn't echo and resonate like Rosinski's deep, passionate voice. I'd love to see Mixon get into a groove where he can call the action as if he were more of a fan. But in converstaion, he's a fine announcer. We just gotta get his ass fired up.

Right now I'll just say it's very different and it's hard not to miss Ros's deep voice - it was just the perfect radio voice. I thought the other guys wanted to kill MM when he said Kasay was automatic at this distance and then it was blocked.

    I'm in the minority here...

I'm a young guy in the broadcasting biz. I was curious about this Mick fella after we hired him. So, naturally, I called him. Left him a VMM.

One day later, he leaves me a message, telling me to stop by camp Wofford, or the BOA anytime, and we could hang out.

I know he's not as good as Roz, nor as familiar. But I like him. And I am rooting for him to do well in this.

He's never done football before. I suspect he's concentrating on getting things right now. Just like a rookie. He probably needs several years before he can get smooth and emotional.

As he gets around, I bet your feeling about him will spread. That will give him more confidence, and it should start to build. Remember Roz had alot of experience with the Falcons when he came here.

Mixon is a professional. I'm not worried about him. His voice is "basketball" to me though, for obvious reasons. Perhaps one reason he didn't sound "into it" is because his higher register works better in a non-stop sport like basketball rather than 3 second bursts of play. Either way, I'm sure he'll be fine, but it will take a long time to get used to not having Rosinski. He had a textbook voice and delivery, and a good wit about him as well.

Magnus, you're right about the preseason guys on TV not really mattering. I just never thought I'd crave Tim Brando's "professionalism" though. Gary Williams started treating the game as his morning show for a little bit, leading Beuerlein to make a crack on on some sort of racial group (anyone remember this awkward moment?) I didn't mind Beuerlein that much, it was Williams who was leaving dead air and sounding like he was on the verge of tears all night.

The thing that got me was he sounded like he was rooting for the Redskins. He got more excited about the Redskins play than he did ours. Him describing us was like this: :blah: . Him describing the Redskins: :trophy: .
I would like for it to be the other way around. Us getting all of the excitment and the opposing team the hum-drum blah-blah-blah.

If somebody out there knows him well enough, please mention it to him. Excite it up for us and be blase for the opponent.

Mixon to me sounds like a very good college announcer. He hasn't gotten, to me anyway, to the point where he sounds like a good pro ball announcer. I'll give him some time to get used to things, but like others I miss Rozinski. At least he didn't call the rookies "freshmen".
