This is stupid - why would the Saints bid on Gardner again? Horn, Stallworth, and no defense, but they're worried about paying a 3rd WR $2.1 mil?

This doesn't seem to be something I'd have worried about. The opportunity's clearly better here, so wooing Gardner wouldn't have been a problem. It's not that I don't want to have him, but all this "we couldn't have gotten a WR this good in the 6th" doesn't mean we couldn't have gotten him without a trade at all.

Even with bieing the big stupid goober moron draft junkie that I am, I'm better with having Gardner secured then having that 6th. next April.

Maybe they weren't serious and just wanted to see us to burn a pick.

I agree Magnus, it would be nice to have both Gardner and the 6th.

The fact that we made the trade leads me to believe Proehl is retiring and we couldnt take a chance.

I don't think it was burning a pick. We have that 6th round pick that we got from Denver for Mr. Steroids that was basically a "free" pick.

I know I'm probably being flacky on this, but often when we position ourselves in the draft, it seems, the Saints try to jump ahead of us and fuck us up. It doesn't surprise me that they have tried to screw this deal. I think they have a complex where we are concerned.

I have thought before that this was almost like trading Brun for Gardner. That is not a bad trade IMHO. Maybe it was we give up Brun and our sixth rounder for Gardner and Denver's seventh rounder but still that is not a bad move.
