    the panthers are building solid RB depth, OL depth, DL depth, QB depth with this draft.

    this is a nutty situation for the team to be in, isn't it.

    it feels good.

    Teams can luck up into a good draft every now and then (re: Seattle '04), but the real test is how you do over time. Clearly Hurney & co. rank up there with the best guys not named Newsome. Tony Softli and anyone else involved in these decisions really deserve a lot of credit.

    We obviously scouted Louisville, so maybe Russell goes with our next pick. He'd be a nice WR, the only problem is that he doesn't have return skills.

    They've definitely stuck with the plan since the 2001 draft, and it is paying off.

    True, but because of that I think his time here may be limited. I wish they'd name him something like Assit. GM/Head of Scouting and give him a nice raise to keep him around longer.

    IIRC, He (Softli) interviewed for the open Seattle GM job during the offseason.
