......or would Mick Mixon just absolutely blow calling NFL games in a lead PBP capacity.

First of all, his voice is weak. Terrible.

Second, he has NO professional PBP experience, and limited PBP experience in HS and college.

Third, there is a perfectly good NFL PBP'er sitting right in front of JR's nose in Mark Champion.

So far, other than the Dr. Jimmy Shortt shit, this has been a pleasant off season, to me. But if JR and family hire Mick "friggin" Mixon to call our games in 2005, it will be an absolute joke.

Champion has called NFL games in a PBP capacity for over 20 years now (17 seasons as the voice of the Detroit Lions), as well as picking up the PBP job for the Detroit Pistons. In addition, he has anchored CBS Radio/Westwood One's coverage of the Winter Olympics and the Ryder Cup.

Mixon has served as a color man for Woody Durham for the past 11 years or so. His career highlights also include PBP duties for the Maine Guides :ylsuper: of the AAA International League, as well as a stint as sports director for WCGC Radio in Belmont, NC:woot:

    so, you make the call.

I think Mick would be a good color guy in a 3 man crew. Or do a GREAT job for like a Pregame and postgame show, but as far as PBP goes Champion is by far superior.

Yea, let me just state that I have no interest in the whole UNC-Duke thing. I don't even know that much about Mixon, other than reading his bio and hearing his lazy voice. And Mick would be great as a color guy. But Champion is as good, if not better, than Rozinski. It's a no brainer, if this is about voice and talent alone. If not, then we may have a ballgame here.

well, it's obviously not about voice and talent alone. Otherwise, Roz would still be here.

    Very true.

I just don't see hiring a lifetime color man in the college ranks over a polished, well traveled 25-year NFL PBP vet. Hell, I could do a better job than Mixon in that capacity. We all could!

Champion has paid his dues. Micky has not. Does that matter to JR? Probably not. We'll see.

yeah, it'd be interesting to get a guy like Mixon on the team, but not as the voice. That way we're not stuck with that goober Pete Yannity as the guy next to Eugene. Or God knows this cheap ass team, Brett Borden.

And now we're going to the sideline to get an update on the injuries. Brett?

Thanks, Pete. I'd like to remind everyone that jerseys are 10% off this month. Back to you.

That is the funniest, and most accurate, depiction of the Richardson family I have ever heard.
