I really like what Shanahan and now Gregg Knapp are doing with the WCO, or more specifically their running game.

If Denver can take any old 6th round draft choice, insert him in the Denver running game and presto you have 1100 yard rusher, then why doesn't everyone run the Denver style running game. Look how much Atlanta improved the first year they ran the Denver style running game. And they do it with Who Dats on the OL.

no, we're bitching that it took 9 weeks to adapt to the circumstances.

Ok, that has to be the best description of how I feel about this past season. That quote right there says it all. Did we do ok considering all the injuries? I suppose. However, when your team comes within a couple minutes of winning the Superbowl the year before, then no. Despite all the injuries the New England Patriots had on their Defense they still were able to shut down The Steelers,Colts, and the Eagles. It took us all those weeks to decide who the f*ck to play on the OL and stop the bleeding on the porous Defensive Line. WTF? Why can Belichik make adjustments so easily? How the f*ck does he substitute any old scrub and he plays like an all-star? I am really hoping the Fox learned something from what went wrong this year and what the Pats did.

Yep. And that with the season on the line, we had trouble establishing an offense if Moose was held, or to the refs, "covered".

It's not that I had a huge problem with that offense in the last weeks, more the decisions being made in critical situations; it was the idea of stoically pushing Goings and Hoover across a shaky rght side with no concern for game situations during a losing streak that gets me mad.

Seems like that's how it is - we win running and passing, we win a game running, we run to death during a slump, Dan turns the page to his passing game and we resurrect. It's happened three years, and you can set your watch to it - almost as much as the 30 carries deal.

There is no question that the playcalling and decision making in the second half of the season was much better. There were times in the first 8 weeks where the whole team looked lost. The coaches should accept responsibility for this, but the players need to be held accountable as well. We tend to skim over this part and go right to the OC and DC. The guys who made plays down the stretch had opportunities to do so in September and October, but couldn't get it done.

Moose fumbling the ball on a reverse against Atlanta as we were pushing the ball on the first series, throwing away an early lead. We all remember the Willig debocle in Denver, and "The Best Front Four in Football" not able to get us the ball back with 6:00 left to play. Jake throwing 4 picks against Philly. Moose was at it again, dropping a TD against SD (it was a hard catch, but not as hard as the one he made in Tampa) that would have given us the lead in the 4th quarter.

I'm not letting the coaches off the hook here, and certainly not Dan Henning. But as long as were assigning blame for what happened in the first half of the season, we should spread the wealth.

sure, part of it was the players not executing, but a bigger part was putting those players in those situations to begin with. The gameplans didn't work for 8 weeks, and suddenly when we decided to throw the ball on 1st down some, we became successful...it's not rocket science.

This is a generalization by many fans about the Panthers offense, one that doesn't hold much water behind it. If you look at the first half of the season, we were very aggressive on 1st down. Opening night against Green Bay, Jake hit Moose for a 1st down. The next play, we tried a end around pass by Smith. The Kansas City game we came out throwing from shotgun, but then Foster took over. I've gone back to the play by play logs for all of those games, and I saw a lot of times where we opened the offense up on 1st down. The problem was that the recievers and quarterback weren't making the most of it, putting us into 2nd and long situations. Personally, I was outraged, at times, with how much we threw on 1st. Maybe I'm just watching a different team, I dunno.
