Me and a buddy went to this bar to watch the SB. Both of us expected a huge crowd because of the merchandise they were giving away. It's the local Bears Fan Club home port, so I was expecting to see quite a few people I knew there as well.

Needless to say the turnout was FAR less than what was expected. Probably less than 50 people in a place that holds up to 300. Thus, we felt our chances at winning some of the merchandise were better than good. I figured everyone had a 50/50 chance of winning something good.

    They had:
*5-6 hats signed by Walter Payton
*Lawrence Taylor game worn jersey (not signed)
*Randy Moss alternate jersey (not signed)
    *Signed Ron Artest jersey
*Gale Sayers All-Star jersey #48 signed
*Football signed by the '85 Pats
*Football signed by both the '85 Pats and Bears
    * Misc other signed merchandise

The two things I really would have liked to have had were the Brian Piccolo throwback jersey (of course not signed) and a "Champions of the Century" Bears jersey with numbers 40/51/50/34 on the back. Signed respectively by Sayers, Butkus, Singletary and Payton. That would have been worth some serious coin.

As the drawings took place it became evident that the owner was not happy with the turnout and rigged the drawings so his buddy's got the good stuff they wanted. All the signed merchandise went to the two tables where the owners party was seated and two or three guys won the bulk of it with what didn't appear to be more than the 5 raffle tkt's I purchased.

However, they had a bunch of football penny banks filled with pretzels...no one at those two tables won those...but almost everyone else in the place managed to win one.

I feel ripped off somehow, really wish I could have gotten that Piccolo jersey. But at least I know I can find one on-line now, which I looked a while back and couldn't seem to find one.

Oh well...at least I got drunk! :xyzthumbs

Piccalo was a good ole Wake Forest player. Also that Sayers' Jersey would have been a valuable treasure. Two all time good guys.

The owner's action is about the best way I know of to lose business, which is probably the reason for the low turnout.

This is the same place that oversold a Sevendust show...600 tkt's sold for a venue that holds 300-350 max. The fire marshalls shut it down and a small scale riot ensued. Merchandisers had a cage that they vacated immediately and me and my friends claimed that as our spot to watch the mele'. I had a couple buddies working security, so we stuck around to make sure they didn't need a hand.
The owner blamed it on the promoter...the owner is a dickbag. He spent alot of money promoting the SB party, lots of radio spots.

I would never go back to that place. I would rather die of thirst before buying another beer from that guy.

At $3.00 a bottle, you'd think he could afford to get rid of the cockroaches at least.
