I wouldn't worry too much about the Hawian influence. Moose isn't 25 anymore. He'll have plenty of influence from his agent, his family and Fox & Co. Plus.....you know Peppers will bitch slap anyone pulling that shit.

    • MUHAMMAD UPDATE: The Panthers should get a good idea of how to proceed in the offseason in the next few days.

Joel Segal, the agent for wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad, said Friday he planned to sit down with Panthers officials this week to talk about extending the Pro Bowl wide receiver's contract. Both parties will be in Mobile, Ala., for Senior Bowl practices.

The two sides have talked in general terms in recent weeks, though nothing substantive has emerged.

If the Panthers can't reach agreement on a long-term deal, they'll release the 31-year-old receiver before they'd have to pay him a $10 million roster bonus on March 1.

If they can't work out something with Muhammad, they'll have to find a physical complement to Steve Smith and Keary Colbert in free agency

you're fucking crazy, how can anyone that knows shit about football not think that Moose deserves the Pro Bowl? The numbers speak for themselves. It's not like he's Dan Morgan...

that's supposed to be a secret :quiet:

. . . and of course he deserves it. Point was (which was half way in jest) it would suck if Moose got lured away as a result of playing well enough to make the Pro Bowl. Let's all lobby for our most important players to make All Pro and the Pro Bowl in what amounts to contract years so we can slit our wrists when we can't hold onto our best players for getting that all important individual recognition. Don't know about the rest of you but I could live without any of our guys going to Hawaii in exchange for having a better chance of keeping our team together.

You get where I was coming from now right?

If anything I said had anything to do with what the NFL does, then I'd not only be worried, I'd expect shit to be a lot better than it is (and WP/my contribution toward getting Moose re-signed would make the point moot anyway).

Put the shoe on the other foot. Say Moose plays for the Bears and they are iffy on being able to bring him back. How much would you pay to get him away from them and how big of a money deal is he worth? You are talking about a 32 year old wide out when next season starts. If Moose leaves is it a big priority to get a big time wideout to replace him? Would we go and make a run at Plaxico Burress?

I know exactly where you're coming from. If a player performs well enough to make the Pro Bowl, he's gonna get paid, whether he makes the Pro Bowl or not...

If Moose hadn't played well enough to make the pro bowl, we wouldn't even care if he came back or not. Like it or not, getting individual accolades are primarily based on performance. You're a little off in the head on this one, it sounds like you'd rather have average guys who don't get any awards as long as we could keep them...sorry, it doesn't actually work that way, and it never will. I can't really explain where I'm coming from on this, but you're way the fuck off base.

In short, it sounds like you don't want any Panther to ever receive any accolades just so we can sit here incognito and keep our team together. The only way that happens is if we become Arizona, and I'd rather have a good team that results from a few players having career years here and there, than sit around and scrap up the dregs of the NFL because nobody wanted to play here.

It sounds like you think we're all just saying Moose should go to the Pro Bowl because he's a panther, when in actuality, it's because of his performance on the field. As it should be. I really don't understand what you're saying on this, you agree that he deserves to go, but you don't want him to go for selfish reasons. I don't think Dan Morgan should go, even though I'm a panther fan.

Simple fact is this, Moose performed on the field, NFL fans, coaches, and players voted him to the Pro Bowl. No matter how it affects our chances to keep him, he deserved it, and you're being extremely selfish by saying anything otherwise. With his numbers, he will be highly sought after by teams on the cusp of the playoffs with cap space, even if he hadn't made the Pro Bowl. Even if he hadn't made it, do you really think that Ray Lewis just wouldn't give him a call if he really wanted to lobby for him to come to Baltimore?

Like I said, we're not just all sitting here hoping every single Panther goes to the Pro Bowl just because we're homers, and yes, we do realize that individual awards do make players more sought after, but if you consider that the awards come from performance, you'd realize that those players will be sought after anyway.

You did see Reggie Howard and Jeno James get overpaid last year, right?
