    FO reaction to Brun's arrest

    Todd Sauerbrun arrest reaction
    December 16, 2004

    Panthers.com

Comments regarding the arrest of Carolina Panthers punter Todd Sauerbrun on charges of driving while impaired, speeding and driving without a license.
    Head Coach John Fox

On his reaction to Sauerbrun being arrested: We are very disappointed. It is something that we take very seriously, and the League has rules and protocol that we go by.

On if Sauerbrun will play on Saturday at Atlanta: There are no rules that would allow him not to play.

On how frustrating it is that incidents like this continue to occur: We are a microcosm of society. It happens on every NFL team. It's something that we take very seriously. It's something that you don't want to happen but it's reality.

    General Manager Marty Hurney

On his reaction to Sauerbrun being arrested: Obviously, we take these things very seriously. When we met with Todd, he apologized for the situation. There's a legal process that has to take place. Todd knows and anybody in our organization knows how we feel about these things and how we address them. It's a serious matter, and we are treating it as such.

On if this hurts the team's morale: I don't think so. People make mistakes, and everybody in our organization knows that. Again, there's a legal process that has to take place first. The important thing is that anytime something like this happens, we address it with our team and we address it with the player in question. Everybody knows how seriously we take these matters.

Checked into prior arrests...Chicago Sun Times and Chicago Tribune have NO RECORDS of Sauerbrun being arrested on a DUI back iun 1996. Not to say he didn't do it, but further internet searching could also find no record of a prior arrest for him. Again, not saying he didn't do it, because if he did, and stayed clean, it could have been wiped off his record. Just FYI for y'all.

yeah, only thing i found was this

    http://www.s-t.com/daily/10-96/10-19-96/c02sp125.htm
Bears punter Todd Sauerbrun was convicted of reckless driving by a
judge who chastised the player for arrogant behavior. Police said
Sauerbrun drove across a lawn near the Halas Hall practice facility in
Lake Forest on Aug. 29 while children were playing nearby. Sauerbrun
claimed he drove across the yard of a Lake Forest College faculty member
because his Range Rover was blocked into the parking lot by other
vehicles and it was his only way out. The judge ordered Sauerbrun to
participate in a victim impact program, placed him on one year of court
    supervision and fined him $500
