    Thanks guys!

I'll certainly download some stuff, but my vacation starts tomorrow - flying in to San Francisco on Thursday and my first stop will be Ameoba records in Haight St. If I'm in Haight I must buy some Dead CDs. Dick's Picks sounds the way to go (and allmusic suggests there's at least 32 volumes of the stuff!). 'Live Dead' is the first I heard so I'll have to get that for the sake of nostalgia.

I'll steer clear of the studio albums unless I can find them used and cheap, then I'll try some downloads when I'm home in December.

Anything from Dick's Picks from 73-78. IMHO That was their best years.

I got a present that my wife found on e-bay, a box collection of 8 cd's. They were studio work and included live versions of the studio recordings. It's a great collection. Working man's dead etc.
