The series where he overthrew so bad and so consistently, Willig was in at RT. I think that really gets to Jake's mind. Up and down game for him. Lets see what happens the rest of the year.

he's getting hit alot. it effects the best QBs. with some good players around him, he'll be good again if he can still stand.

I didn't tape this week, but some of the replays would show the protection, and Jake's feet would be set toward the sidelines, rather than toward the EZ, but "set" is a bad word for it, as they kept chopping. I think that's odd, and I've been saying all season that his high throws are indicative of his not planting and throwing off the front foot.

He also doesn't step up in the pocket, which I don't blame him for, but he must be able to do that with confidence to be as good as he was.

I agree, but when Jake is under center, he never drops back - he runs backwards and turns - I realize all QB's do this sometimes, but Jake does it every time - by the time he turns around, he's already got pressure - he needs to just back up instead of running back and turning.

Jake's not to blame for everythng, when you lose your best receiver and both your best backs and have to learn new receivers and backs, it's tough. But he still looks sorry this year as far as accuracy, he had some dropped balls today but he had guys wide open and either didn't see them or overthrew them big time. And that was when he had lots of time to throw.

    Panthers | Delhomme Struggles - from www.KFFL.com
    Sun, 7 Nov 2004 16:42:03 -0800

Associated Press reports Carolina Panthers QB Jake Delhomme struggled during Week 9 despite throwing for 299 yards and three touchdowns against the Oakland Raiders. Delhomme's passes went out of bounds or over the head of receivers, ruining several opportunities for the team.

He had a good game except for that stretch. He recovered to play well on the last series. I agree he needs good players around him.

I still haven't made up my mind about Colbert. He looks like a good #3. I'm not sure about a #2 where the #2 can bump up to #1 if the #1 gets hurt.

I think we run the ball at the wrong times and it hurts us. When we are made to hurry up. We usually score and run very little. The rest of the time quarter 1-3 we run more and we are always losing.

I thought Jake improved as the game progressed. He does seem to have Happy Feet which is hurting his passing. The incompletion to Goings was right under me and it would be fairly catchable to a solid receiver though not guaranteed catch, but Goings hasn't really shown himself to be one of our top runner/receivers. Of course as soon as I yelled stopped throwing to Goings they score. Jake missed seeing some open guys, but I can't say what his field of vision is down on the field - he just may not have clear vision of them or it may be his running back and then turning - he's really not giving himself much time to scan the field.

I may be alone on this, but I actually felt better at the end of the game. First half looked like another humiliation in the works but everyone kept fighting and tied it up. I see a lot of folks saying the team has given up, but that's not what I saw today. Sure we still made mistakes that hurt, but with all the injuries and the caliber of some of the guys on the field, I'm sad about the loss, but I felt better today then I have in many of the other losses.

The flyover was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Both times!

What is there to feel good about in getting beat by a really bad team at home?
