except that they actually won the fucking superbowl and didn't blow ass their next year. They did win 7 games that "down" year...

Tainted win at best. I mean Chucky did sort of have a little bit of an advantage over the Raiders. He made the Buc D know the Raider O just as well as the Raiders did. It was like stealing candy from a baby after that.

Football is too dynamic to create formulas. However New England is probably the one to pattern after. Have a front office and coaching staff teamed with a hell of a pro and college scout team go out and continue to make your team different not only every year, but every week.

I think we have the harmony aspect in place in regards to the GM and coaching staff. Fox and Hurney are a good team. However we tend to want to create a single identity and stick with it which is why I think we are a little snake bit this season...

no doubt, but its still a ring...its also callahan's fault for using the same damn playbook. I mean our football team in HS changed terminology when our HC went to another school.

If you think of the 49ers you think finese and beauty of a smooth running machine that Bill Walsh put together. If you think Redskins you think hoggs and smashmouth football. If you think steelers you think hard nosed blue collar defensive team. If you think Cowgirls you think precision of Landry and hoggs redux during the run of the 90s. If you think Raiders you think criminal element. If you think Dolphins you think a great passing game and all the years of Marino trying to get it done alone.

When you think panthers what do you think? Streaky? Inconsisten? 1-15? this year maybe underachievers? We really have not made an identity for ourselves. We were close last year to being a team that you thought late comebacks and beat the odds but that is fading now.

At this point I think I would prefer a few playoff season in a row over another superbowl run. Going back to being terrible this quick is a surprise and very unpleasant.

I think about vague, horrible questions on a message board that only make a bad season that much worse. How about you?

I think if you knew half as much about football as one would need to justify your smug and arrogant attitude towards everyone else on this board you would be coaching an NFL team.

The smug and arrugant attitude is pretty much just pointed at you. You have every right to come up with mind-numbing threads like this.

The football knowledge is totally separate.

It just baffles me. Back when you'd whine about Seifert all year long, you said you wanted a team that was pretty much just like this in makeup. You've said so pretty much all along.

Add in that, as I noted without berating you earlier, no one team is doing anything innovative right now. Every single thing in the NFL was learned from team to team and passed on from coach to coach, with a minor tweak here and there.

The WCO to the Mike Martz systems to Charlie Weis', to Dan Henning's? It's all written pretty much exactly the same. It's how it's used. Defensively, you use one front, but they're all in the book, and so are all the coverages, called at different times for different situations.

It's still down to good preparation, play calling, and execution. Nothing more, and nothing less. A great scheme won't beat anyone without talent and execution, and so on.

I make fun of you because in this season you've:
*talked about firing the head coach and coordinators
*asked (after week one) who we'll follow in the playoffs
*potentially suggested that the team change concepts in mid-stream
*started no less than two draft threads without anything to actually add to them

You bring up a bunch of questions that nobody wants to answer, some people make fun of you, and I just happen to be the one who does it more. Eventually, you might decide to start thinking about what you're saying rather than just deciding to openly pout.

And as I said, the fact that I know football? That's totally separate.

i even remember that. this is exactly the team you, thelt, asked for, for so long. back on the charlotte.com board that's all you talked about except bline. you'ld even say we should run it 30 times because when we do the stats say we win. funny, as we went through last year i thought about you often. i would say 'damn, that mf was right.' maybe i should hear you this time too.

Did you go by a different name back then? Some of y'all have changed around a time or two.
I should've by now, my name is and always was stupid.

I need to apologize to Thelt, I think. I'm coming down on him hard. I don't want to approach being like Collin is/was, even if it's just to him, no matter how many annoying questions he asks. That "who'll we follow in the playoffs" thing fucking made me angry - almost as angry as those people who tried to wear paper bags during 98 and 01. I know Saints fans - and they had to live with that shit for 20 years. I don't know why anyone would want to wish that on their own team.

All the same, I think he's asking these questions to take his football frustrations out on us, thereby making what I'm doing turnabout.
