The logic of keeping Whale at guard, as I understand it, is to benefit the run game. Whale is able to pull and create holes. In the passing game often the tackles are the most important guys who face the best pass rushers. Given all our struggles running the ball this year I have to wonder if Whale could be used better at tackle. What we had envisioned for him must not be working. Either that or our backs suck.

I haven't seen much game coverage this year, but from what I have seen and read, I've been wanting Wahle and Wharton to swap positions for a while now. I still would like to see it, if nothing else in the offseason.

Wharton has been burned a few times, but IMO, Mitchell and Reyes have been a bigger part of the problem in the passing game.

Wahle could be used at LT, and do well. The team wants him at LG. They said that if wharton doesn't work, Gross moves. I assume that means Wharton moves to his spot. Only concern there for me is having a young guy like Mathis in between a new C and a young RT.

Whale sounds better for an OL......... :couto:

It is probably better just to leave everyone where they are unless they are replaced. They say consistency is big for an OL.

Push up the middle has hurt us this year, yeah. Backside pressure's been problematic as well, especially in causing fumbles, so it's something to look at. I think Gross has to learn to give less ground to be a successful LT, though.

Agreed, and that's been his achilles heel ever since he was drafted. Are you as surprised as I am that Maser hasn't corrected that in him yet?

I didn't and don't think Wharton is an NFL LT, but he's not really been bad enough to definitely require a replacement. I'm always in favor of an ungrade, but if he's still there next season then I can live with that as long as upgrade at C and RG.

I think overall that Wharton has done a better job than Gross a LT. The answer might be a better blocking or chipping TE.

I do miss seeing the running back with his hand on Jenos wide ass running through holes. I would measure a guard's ass before I drafted him.
