    Fox: Testaverde
    will start vs. Colts

Carr needs more time to recover12:11 p.m. | Carolina Panthers coach John Fox said Friday that Vinny Testaverde would start at quarterback in Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fox said David Carr, who missed the Panthers' last game two weeks ago against Arizona, still needs time to recover from a back injury.

I call BS on the back. It's an easy call to make. Now if Testy falls it's not a big deal, when Carr returns. If Carr were to stat and get waxed, then Testy would be voted mayor and take over Charlotte, while Carr is electricuted

This isn't Vinny's first barbecue. Besides, it's a non-conference game. Even if Vinny plays like crap and we lose, we're still 4-1 in the NFC, and we can get Carr back for a playoff push. You have to consider the big picture when you're making these decisions.

Carr seemed to think he was ready to go this week. Unless he tweaked his back, this was a decision on who Fox thinks will give us the best chance to win. If Vinny has a good showing, Carr will be riding the bench until further notice. You have to wonder what this is going to do to his career.

This was an easy out for Carr. Chances are Vinnie gets slaughtered, while Carr is "out" with a "back" injury and Carr gets to come back when his "back" injury is better to a crowd that will be cheering for him. Now if Carr were to start and get slaughtered, then Vinnie would be God and Carr's career would be over.

This thing set's up great for Carr as long as Vinnie doesn't win and if Vinnie wins, then Carr should understand that Vinnie has the hot hand and he is the proven starter in the league.

I think Carr is in a great position right now. He just sits back and no matter what he doesn't hurt the fans opinion of him.

It's called protecting the teams interests and giving the team the best opportunity to win. Why start Carr when Vinnie has the hot hand and Carr is nicked? Carr WONT win if he starts and Vinnie has a slim chance. This is almost like a reverse bye for Carr. We will play the guy that is hot and if he fails, Carr is still there and the fans still think he is a servicable guy, but Carr starts and stinks it up everyone will be calling for his head.

I can't disagree with this, but if Carr went up to Coach Fox and said 'I'm ready to play' and Fox said, 'no, you're not', this could be a blow to Carr's already fragile psyche. I think Fox is giving Vinny the opportunity to win the job here. But you are right in the sense that it works out better for Carr to sit one more week. But if he ends up sitting the rest of the season, I wonder what his future holds.

I have 0 confidence in Carr. I don't know if I could ever support a guy with a side armed girlie throw.
