It's probably spyware or a virus.

I came across some kind of virus a few weeks ago on a porn site. My anti-virus software caught it, but I still had a bunch of windows open up congratulating itself for catching the virus. I just waited it out.

    Glad i could help.

    get rid of Norton

    And use AVG free. (grisoft)

You have more memory and less hassles.

AVG has more security holes too. Not saying its bad, but I wouldn't ditch Norton for it.

    I stayed with AVG

Because it found 10 that Norton didn't. And it was Acting a fool.

any virus scan will do that. McAfee will find viruses Norton does. Norton will find viruses McAfee does. Likewise with AVG, OneCare and whatever else. For starters it depends on what each of those programs consider a virus and what user settings have been enabled.

But as far as security holes go, Norton has fewer in its actual programing. Pick up any tech article or read a newsletter. Its not AVG's fault it just doesn't have the financial support Symantec can provide to keep people working on it that Norton does. Out of the box yeah, maybe AVG is the better of the two programs, but after three months for holes to be found Norton will easily surpass AVG.
