I don't know if he was, but he does go way back on charlotte.com, which is where we had this argument. You had left there 3 times before you showed up at the Lair, and Coach does have about three names in his past.

No, we were at the Lair for the Smitty affair. (neat, that rhymes)

The reason I'm sure is that I didn't chat at charlotte, but we chatted the 2001 draft.

Never did the lair, but you were posting about Smitty on draft day on the Charlotte.com board.

You coined the term 'Steve-o-phone' - which is funny. You called him an uncoachable, undersized receiver with a history of injuries.

In this thread, I was referring to the current argument.

I defended the Smitty pick, but had no TBR-like home to do it in, FWIW. :satana:

Can't take credit for that. I laughed at it too, but it wasn't mine. Can't recall who came up with that, in fact. Honestly, I don't remember what it meant (care to refresh?).

It was making fun of his name 'Stevonne'. And also making fun of him copping attitude at his first presser about how he didn't wanted anyone to call him Stevonne. He went 'Francis' about it.

    I still call him Steve-o-phone.

Ah, thanks. At this point I must be getting old (a ripe old 27), because I'm definitely losing my mind.

I have an uncanny ability to remember the most innane shit from years ago, but often forget my own wife's name in social situations. Go figure.

I was pissed when we took him. I thought we had some good players at wide out already and had bigger needs in other places. Turns out he was probably the best pick of that draft. He sure would not have lasted til the third if people had known his future.

My brother said it best about Smitty:

"As long as we've got 89, we've always got a chance."

All it takes is one play for Smitty. You can count on one hand the number of NFL that can run a zero route, break a tackle, and beat a defense for 65-yards.
