no you,re right if the run game improved some then the passing game should make some gains.
out of all the off season personal moves,Vincent leaving and the Otah injury seems to have hurt the team more than any.

I am not sure a revamped OL is the need. It just needs to get healthy. If Otah were back it would probably make our run blocking a lot better. A competent passing game would prevent us from seeing so many 8 man fronts. We have some receivers who can play. Smith still has something left even if he has not had a good year. Gettis has shown that he can do it, if not consistently yet. Lafell has shown flashes too.

    The biggest issue is QB.

The biggest issue is the fucking oline. If we cant run for more than 2 yards on first down you cant expext a passing game full of rookies to consistently convert 3rd and longs. Especially when the one vet WR we do have cant seem to get his head out his ass and concentrate on fundamentals like catching the ball when he is wide open.

Is the return of Otah gonna fix it? I doubt it but it'd surely help. We wont see less than 8 in the box till the WR's prove themselves, nobodys gonna back off this year, thats for damn sure. Gettis and LaFell show promise but we should have brought in a Vet that requires some respect and then let those two grow for when/if Smitty leaves.

So what do we do next year? stick with what we got, are we too heavily vested in young guys to add a vet now? How about at TE?

I do know id rather invest our 2nd round picks in proven FAs than pissing them away since I dont know when.

Id like to see the new HC start off by making the TE the QBs best friend but im afraid by the time our season ends were gonna have way more problems to deal with.

At the start of the season you would have thought the dline was obviously gonna need some attention in the 11 draft but right now they are the least of our problems. How do we rebuild this team, where do we fucking start? Where would you invest a top 3 pick? Do we trade one of our backs for picks, a vet, to make room for someone like Mark Ingram? Another young QB like Andrew Luck or another tackle if Otah is done, or a CB like Peterson cause im starting to get pissed with Gamble and Marshall a wee bit.

If you go back to last season you can tell a lot about this season. When Jake was playing and struggling last year the team was a whole lot like it is right now. It could run the ball a little better with Otah and Vincent but it was not winning many games. Once Moore stepped in and played great the whole team looked a lot better. We could run the ball again even without Otah. We beat some playoff teams convincingly. I think you would see the same thing happen with the current team if we had a QB who was playing solid ball every week.

If you can not pass it is very hard to run. When your offense is terrible it is hard to have a good defense, yet we have somewhat pulled that off.

Put a QB who is top ten quality on this team, even top 15 quality and it is at least a wild card.
