Fox---wants games close, even when he deep down knows that we overmatch teams. He feels that no matter what, we have the playmaker/character to win games in the end.

That shit worked pretty well in 2003. Not so much last year, or this year.

My point is this. We should game plan, play call, and execute each game as if we were 1-7.

Early each season, we are like the golfer you see leading The Masters by one shot coming down the stretch. They play tight, worrying about making mistakes. However, when you're two shots back, you play aggresive, fire at the pin, and play to win.

The problem is that we are not shooting for the flags. We are playing for the middle of the green. In doing so, we're leaving ourselves with 50-foot lags for birdie.

We have the personnel to dominate games. We matched up very well against New Orleans and Miami, and should have dominated. But we didn't play to win. Maybe if we start 1-7 again, we will play to win.

I think we do shoot at enough flags.

But the decision to shoot at the pin only pays off if you execute, and then make your birdie putt.

We shoot at the flag on 18. We don't shoot at the flag on holes 1-13. We wait until the defense fucks it up just enough to get down to business.

There are a few exceptions, most of which came after we started 1-7 last year.

    We had 3 turnovers yesterday.

Sounds to me like we tried to get too much out of Amen Corner.

Agreed, there's enough in this team's history of sitting on the ball, "a punt isn't necessarily a bad thing", and waiting for the last 4 minutes to play for the win. Things that directly point at team philosophy/team coaching.

Coaches aren't there to create enthusiasm. Guys should come to play anyway. But you should put them in the right position to win, not the right position not to lose.

    Remember the 'Lightning Bolt'

Years ago, a top-flight golfer named Tommy Bolt had such a temper that he would throw his clubs in the lake after a bad round and sometimes he would chase his caddy and try to throw him in the pond, too. Maybe John Fox should throw a few people in the pond!

Nope. Sounds like we fucked up. The two turnovers on Jake were a fumble on "empty set" where he didn't get rid of the ball fast enough, and on a 5 yard out where he didn't see the safety. That's not like we tried a double reverse option and screwed it up(though that ugly shit with Goings pitching to Smith was some of the stupidest shit I've ever seen) or like we're going shotgun and throwing every down.

Point being that we were not conservative yesterday.

    conservative does not equal running.

We didn't make turnovers doing things that teams have a hard time doing. We made mistakes because we fucked up, not because we were taking some extreme risk.
