I really need some help with my PC. It was working fine until I came home today, where it took a good half an hour to get rid of the error messages, jamming, freezing etc before I could get on line. What I’d really like to do is some kind of scan to diagnose what’s going on with it. Any suggestions would be helpful. I know it’s an old thing and normally it’s a fine wee thing – but this is just insane. Could it be a virus? I’m running scans at the moment – so hopefully that will do it – but bugger me days . Could it be caused because I didn’t use it for 3 and a half weeks? Why would it jam up and be a silly bugger now? Any useful downloads that I can do to try and fix this would be really appreciated.

Right - I had four trojan virus's. Hopefully, that'll do it - but if there's something else I'm not doing...and should be - please hola out :).

    Cheers.

Could be spyware, too. If you surf a lot of pron or gambling sites, your computer's probably loaded with it. That's going to cause your PC to run sluggish and give you all sorts of unwanted tripe. Some of those things are bloody difficult to get rid of, too.

Thanks HB. I rarely (if ever) go to either of those type of sites - but that's a good heads up :). I've defragged, descanned, scanned, done everything that I can. I've got rid of most of it (touch wood), but it still happends on occassion (you know, right when you don't want it to!)

Thanks again for the info :).
