Memory (RAM) question

    I have a dell dimension 3000, I currently have 256 megs of RAM. I have 2 slots for RAM chips. Is it advisable to add a 512 meg chip, and run both the 256 and 512 chips, or should I get 2 512's and ditch the 256 chip?

    might want to make sure they are the same speed, 2700, 3200, 3500 etc...
