    Lucas Quote...

    ---------------------------------------------------
    http://www.gastongazette.com/sections/panthers/story.asp?id=124

    (snip)...

Lucas didn’t want to talk specifically about his shoulder injury after the game but said he would be back next Monday night against the Green Bay Packers. He also offered some bizarre comments after the game, especially for a guy who didn’t play.
“We can’t come into another person’s environment and not come out with the same type of energy that we have at home in a game like the one against New England,” said Lucas. “We’ve lost two games now that we probably should have won. On paper, people expected us to win. But we can’t go nowhere in the NFL and expect to win if we play like we played today.”

    ...(snip)

    ---------------------------------------------------

I think it is enlightening that both Lucas confirms what many of us fans are thinking about a lack of "energy" (motivation), AND that the writer deems the quote a "bizarre".

I see Lucas as being a master of the obvious, nothing "bizarre" about that.

I do understand the author did mention that Lucas didn't play, I guess thats where he gets that the quote is strange.

I would say this goes into my point about lacking the proper intesity. And thank God Lucas might step up and be a leader on the defense, saying things that need to be said.

I love this guy. Two games here, he's been a shutdown corner, a leading tackler, and in a game off he's taking this fucking team to the mat for coming out soft. About fucking time.

    Agreed totally.

Lucas is a beast. When I heard he was going to be inactive, I could hear Mike Trgovac's balls shrivleing up into his stomach all the way from SC.

That is what I said Steve Smith should have said after the game. That guy busts his ass while everyone else collects their check. Fuck those guys. Every year we have to dig ourselves a fucking hole and then have to climb out. Pure BS.

    Beware Mad Monday

This ancient and oft-wrong observer predicts you will see a Carolina team on Monday night with the hair up on its back. This probably will be the last time the current players will get to put old master Brett Favre, who is still the most exciting player in the NFL, on his back. If the Panthers -- coaches and players -- don't heed Lucas' words, then they're just another soap bubble in a SI shower. :rocktoss

Absolutely! And it really pisses me off that a hired gun has to be the one to step up with a pair and do it. That not one overpaid player on this defense has both the nads and the passion to grab this team by the back of the neck and get 'em fired up. Not...a...single...one. Not Minter, not Morgan (which disappoints me to no end), not Rucker, not Buckner, not Jenkins, not 'Spoon, not Peppers. No, it's the $6M free agent corner.

Edit: Screw it. Make Lucas and Smitty team captains.
