He really seemed to take a nosedive last season. He is a good man, and will help some other team, but he's not worth what Hurney gave him.

Before the Thomas Davis comparisons start, I should stress the fact that Beason was really, really bad last year. Maybe he does better at SLB, but that's probably a pipedream.

I guess this team doesn't know they can make trades?

I don't agree with that at all. He was a good player in 2012 after being a good player in 2011 and 2010. Do you realize that Anderson was making significantly less than not only Beason but also Thomas Davis?

Anderson makes less than half of what Beason does, had been consistently healthy until missing four games last season, and had been consistently good over the last three years. Now they're crossing their fingers that Beason will be something other than terrible at SLB and that Thomas Davis will remain healthy. Oh, and the cost to cut Anderson was virtually the same as keeping him (which is why I'm guessing this is a June 1st cut and thus most of that money will be pushed against the 2014 cap).

The stats don't really support that. 2010 and 2011 were very good years - 130, and 145 tackles, 3.5 and 1.5 sacks respectively, while playing every game.

He drops to 73 tackles and no sacks last year while playing only 12 games. Even if you extrapolate, that's only 91 tackles for the season, a 38% dropoff.

I actually like Anderson and I wish him well.
