You remember the circus catch that King made while spinning along the sideline? The defender was standing right between Delhomme and King, and if he hadn't turned around exactly when Jake wound up to throw, it could have easily been intercepted. It went right by his shoulder before King caught it.

So yeah, Jake threw some stuff up for grabs yesterday when pressured, but it didn't really matter.

pretty damn hard for the DB to make an INT there when he is running the opposite way with his back to the QB and Jake throws it behind him. we have designed plays that work similarly with a lot of success (or at least we did with Henning ... can't say i have seen it yet with Davidson). that pass though was obviously not by design and methinks it was great improvisition (sp?) by Jake and possibly a little luck that it was caugh. i'll live with that gamble in that situation.

You're not listening, but that's typical. Faggins was facing Jake while Delhomme was scrambling. King was stringing along up the sideline trying to get some space or at least draw the defender in case Jake wanted to run. That's when Jake threw the ball at King, but fortunately Faggins happened to turn around at precisely that moment, I guess because he saw Jake winding up and thought someone might be behind him instead of realizing that King was the target. If he hadn't turned, it would have been an easy interception.

Obviously that doesn't crack the top 25 concerns from yesterday, but it was something I noticed at that time, so I can back McFly up regarding that play.

I am not so sure that King was the target. Being at the game on that sideline, it certainly seemed as though Foster was the intended receiver. When he saw jake scrambling, he turned upfield. it wasnt a good pass either way and we got lucky there. But every team has to get lucky here and there.

agreed on jake overall. thought he played ok. the pick was a bad throw and decision. but there were much bigger issues yesterday.

anywhere I lay my head I'm gonna call my home
    absolutely not.

Key had some drops, sure. Moose had some drops. Smitty has some drops. But they caught a ton of balls. Keary's caught 9 balls in two years. 4 receptions starting two games this year. That's worth casting some doubt.

As for King, fair enough on going after that ball. I thought the idea was that King makes Jake "look better" in the same way that Smith making plays makes Jake look good, though that's his job. Make something happen. In that respect, King certainly hasn't. But that wasn't the context being meant, so yeah, he went up and got a ball I'm glad he got.

They better find some Smitty juice and inject it into the dl`s ass. Seeing Kemo scrap himself out of the ground after getting pushed back 5 yards. Not a pretty picture.

I'm still waiting for someone to show me a QB who never throws a bad/stupid pass (EVER) and a WR who never drops a catchable ball (EVER). With the whole team problems we had yesterday, Peyton Manning or any "SUPER WONDERFUL QB" wouldn't have made enough difference for a win. And yes, I believe Jake's turnover was the only one that didn't cost points.

I hope you realize that's completely irrelevant.

Damn, I agree with that. I don't think we did enough to establish the run. If this team can run and uses Smith we can be good. If we can't run and have to rely on a pure passing attack (ie the other receivers), we're in some trouble. But, I'm concerned we're not running the ball to establish a rhythym as much as we need to be. We seem happy to be throwing the ball 3 yards behind the line of scrimmage instead.

not the way i remember the play but don't have it on tape to debate. looked to me Jake knew exactly what was about to happen and put the ball in low behind the defended where only King would have a chance at the ball if he turned. but maybe i'm wrong.
