the official site noted it was an ankle too. Which is weird, it looked like he was clutching his knee.

Yeah, I saw what you did....first thing I thought was ACL. He was in obvious pain.

Yeah I saw him through the binoculars - it was directly in front of us and initially he had his hand on his knee and I told those around me "knee". But then he put both hands on his ankle gripping it.

The good news is neither injury is considered major in the grand scheme of things.

Jordan Gross, who has never missed a start since joining the team in 2003, was knocked unconscious and suffered a concussion on Carolina’s opening series of the game when he got hit in the head on a sweep.

He fell straight to the ground and landed face-first with his arms at his side. He remained that way for several minutes and didn’t move until trainers finally rolled him over.

“I looked and he wasn’t moving,” said quarterback Jake Delhomme. “It’s a sickening feeling. You realize right there and then this is much bigger than the game. We could hear him when he was coming to. You prayed that everything is fine. I’m looking at extremities and saying. ‘Move, move, move!’ I just wanted to see that.”

A few minutes later, Gross sat up and was taken off the field on a cart. He pumped his arm as he left the stadium.

There’s a good chance that, because he was knocked unconscious, Gross might have to sit out next week against Kansas City, possibly ending his streak of 84 consecutive starts. Delhomme said it will be odd not having Gross out at practice this week because he can’t ever recall him missing a rep.

Late in the third quarter, Carolina’s other starting tackle, rookie Jeff Otah, went down with a right ankle injury and did not return. He said after the game that X-rays were negative and he hopes to play next Sunday.

“I just sprained it,” Otah said. “It’s nothing crazy

Gross going down was scary. I had binocs focused on him trying to see if he was BREATHING. Didn't move at all for seemed like forever. Then one heel twitched and then both feet were moving.

I didn't know he was knocked unconscious, but I was concerned he could've been and was glad to see his knees come up meaning he did have consciousness.

Glad both weren't worse. Kudos for Wharton playing solid LT, which we know he can. Same for Bridges, who has always been at most a stand in at tackle, for coming in to play a solid RT. If we had to go to this next game, it's harder to say it'll work, but without gameplanning against it, we did well to block the ATL front. With two different starting tackles this upcoming week, I'm still most afraid of having to play Hangartner, so that says something.

It's easy to say that now we're thin at OL, and we are, but two OT injuries in a game is kinda fucking tough to do something about. They don't give you 53 spots active, and generally you make 7 or at most 8 active offensive linemen. We didn't make it a disaster, so solid job staff and extra linemen.

The Good news, other than the fact the these arent worse than they are, is that it is KC coming in and not some fierce defensive team coming in.

Tell that to the Broncos. Here's hoping for a letdown by the Chiefs
