Gettleman fired

God what a fat fuck.

 

You have to do what is in the best interests of your team. Running off Jordan Gross was not in the best interests of the Panthers, as the disastrous offensive line since then has proven. Releasing Steve Smith (which actually cost $2 million more against the cap) was not in the best interests of the Panthers, as his continued productivity in Baltimore has proven. Releasing DeAngelo Williams was not in the best interests of the Panthers, as it didn't save much money and the team has struggled any time Jonathan Stewart missed games. Releasing Josh Norman was not in the best interests of the Panthers, as he continued to play at an elite level with Washington while Carolina's secondary became one of the worst in the league. I have no problem with not wanting to pay Josh Norman megabucks, but there was no reason to rescind the franchise tag. I have no problem with not giving Greg Olsen a new contract, as he's on the wrong side of thirty. Gettleman's mistakes were not unpopular prudence, they were rooted in arrogance.

 

Maybe Jerry will have a 'change of heart' and hire Hurney back.

 

South Meck actually does need a JV volleyball coach.

 

Plus the Patriots bad decisions are marginalized by having the greatest head coach and greatest quarterback of all time.

 

I think we MIGHT have a bit better shot at keeping Greg at a discount with Gettleman gone. I agree he's at an age you're not going to pay what another desperate team might, but Gettleman seems to piss people off regardless of the rightness or wrongness of the decisions he's made. Maybe one disgruntled player, but almost every single one?

 

Honestly, I would still let Greg hold out. At his age, I actually don't want him heavily involved during training camp and preseason anyway. He isn't going to hold out into the regular season.


I'm happy the cheap fat fuck is gone, but I don't want the pendulum to swing back to Hurney-ism, either.
