OK, here's why you're pissing me off - you have successfully misconstrued what I have been trying to say this whole thread. I have given up. I'm not going to argue with someone that's putting words in my mouth. Am I saying the problems offense sometimes has are because Moose makes too much money? No mags, I am not. I really am not. Get it? I said I expect a higher level of performance out of him, based on salary. Past performance also has something to do with it, but I didn't bring that up. If you would pay receivers random amounts of money based on their performance, that is fine by me. But please stop putting words in my mouth.

Manute Bol would have had a tough time catching that ball--it was far too high as many of Jake's throws have been. Moose has had a terrible season, but he had a good game this week.

I got that. You equated his money to the play's blame, and that I don't get. Dance around it all day, but money doesn't have a damn thing to do with that play. You can face the issue, you can skirt around it and hold a grudge, but money doesn't enter into that play whatsoever and once again, that's not my fault.

My quite obvious needling of that issue was to show that it's the absolute worst point to argue out of anything. Could have have caught it? I don't believe so, you certainly seem sure of it. I've looked at it in replay many a time and I stay with my conclusion.

Just for curiosity sakes if Moose was making 350k and dropped as many balls as he does don't you think the team would have already waived him and gone after someone else. he is a great blocker but makes way too many mental errors (drops) and has been replaced as the teams go-to man. That role carries a higher pay. He will be asked to renegotiate or be waived. Look for at least 1 free agent WR and one drafted along with resigning Smith. IMO

Money matters, if it didn't, then you wouldn't have players making different amounts of money. Magnus, so are you saying it shouldn't matter what a player makes as to how well he performes? How many mistakes he makes? Hell if that's the case then let's just pay them all about $10.00 an hour. Sure you can't take one single play and say money has anything to do with it, but I guess that's why we keep stats all game/season long.

A team doesn't decide what they are going to pay a player based on one play or category or just part of the stats. I think that is part of TBW arguement.

I mean shit say a player rushes for 300 yards in a game, but fumbles the ball 5 times, does that get a game ball?

IMO, you are correct! Easier to cut the 350k player. It's all about the bottom line, which isn't always wins and loses but how much money am I making, which is affected by wins and loses.

It has nothing to do with overall performance. He referred to the given play, and suggested that money had to do with whether he was the person who made the mistake.
On a given play, the blame for a mistake goes to the player who made a mistake. It doesn't go to the highest paid player. That's irrelevant. Jake making less doesn't make his throw any more accurate. Now, TBW wants to make it out to say that the play in particular doesn't matter in reference to money, after I made fun of him for it, but he referenced it to that play.

It's down to this. What happened on that play is a matter of occurrences. Those occurrences weren't affected by money, and I find it awfully hard to believe that any professional player on this team is going to dog it positively or negatively because of money.

As well, it's been Muhsin's production, the ten drops I've counted, and a lack of targets that have hindered him, as well as not squaring up to the ball where he catches a ball best (which he did well this week, and the numbers came in reaction). But that's a matter of the season, not one great game or one questionable play that had nothing to do with money. Those aren't a matter of money until February, and I honestly don't care whether Muhsin stays or goes. He's not a good fit for this team, makes mistakes, and isn't used well. But the team certainly likes him a lot more than a bunch of pile-on fans.

I also disagree with the 350k player. Chances are, that player's, by rule, a third year player. You might cut him if he doesn't show enough promise to overcome mistakes, but a player making ten times that has proven to be of worth, at least enough to overcome some mistakes.

Money is given out as a matter of value, not production, in the end. I'm sure it'd be great for average joe sports fan to suggest that players should get commission or incentives only, and I'm sure all of you would love to miss about five years of football while the holdouts and lockouts ruin the game.

    >>I mean shit say a player rushes for 300 yards in a game, but fumbles the ball 5 times, does that get a game ball?

You'd have to take that up with ladainian Tomlinson. And see whether or not the ballgame was won. I don't give out game balls and those are obviously a lot different than salary.

If this is the impression I gave, I apologize. That was not my intent. The salary reference was in reference to Moose's play as a whole, using that play as an example. I agree with you in that salary does not come matter on any individual play.

However, I stand by my earlier statement that Moose is NOT playing up to neither his potential nor his paycheck. We will agree to disagree on whether the ball was catchable. I also have watched the replay. No doubt it would have been a nice grab.

Here is where my arguement lies. Whether he makes the catch is based on ability and "want to", not based on his salary. However, I personally want to spend my $3.9 million per season on the guy that can go up and snag that ball. Any receiver you pay the vet minimum can whiff on it as Moose did. Can you distinguish what I am trying to say? I am stating that Moose is overpaid, not that his pay had anything to do with him actually making that particular catch.

I don't think it'd be possible for him to earn that money here in this system, with the number of targets he's gotten prior to this past week, because that number was for a guy who was going to carry a team 10 catches, 100 yards every week. And for a while he did that, when there was a QB and the right O.

Nonetheless, the mistakes have been a problem.
That the particular play is his fault, I still say no. It's still a very high ball, he's still fully extended, he still doesn't have his hands all over it. I don't know that any receiver we have, makes that catch. Poor throw. Even Moose says he should have gotten ahold of it, and I can't disagree with saying it was possible, just very unlikely. And I don't find "want" to be a matter in this, in his greatest and worst games Muhsin has worked and played hard.

Franchise still doesn't have a leg to stand on, pot to piss in, or a thing to say. Poor boy's so confused he's probably splitting the difference and nosing around the Ravens. :D Sorry, you know, it's that whole "gotta have the last word" cloak for deciding to reply when somebody's laying really weak trolly smack.
