Like pass-catching tight ends and true coverage free safeties, the Panthers don't put much value in blocking fullbacks. I find that position rather odd considering how many lead plays we run, and how critical short yardage situations are for our offense (situations we generally fail at more than most), but it's their way. Some of us have been calling for a true blocking fullback for years now, but it ain't gonna happen.

There were many times in from "I" last year that Davis/Foster were corraled in the backfield. No one ever pointed the finger at Hoov, despite the fact that he was often blown up by MLB's. It was all about Davis losing a step (which was not entirely false, but not the only reason he was not productive between the 20's) BTW....Vilma made Hoover his bitch back in November. I was there, and saw it first hand.

We could do better, particularly with our style of football. Hoover could do the Chris Cooley thing and it would be fine by me.

Different kind of offense. We don't use an H-back.

How much do you see them changing with Al Saunders?

No shit Collin. I was suggesting we tweak it a bit. It's more conceivable than someone slipping Hurney a date rape pill, clearing the way for us to draft Clements on day 1.

Nor would I, if the need arose. I really like Cramer, and Hoover isn't a bad band-aid at tailback.

    I've thought the same thing.

I did some research on him yesterday. From what I could tell, Bernstein = Dan Krieder.

I still would've loved for us to have signed Davenport. I think he really would've done well in this offense.

:agreed: For a team that is so biased toward the run, especially with big backs, you'd think a blocking fullback would be a given. That's something I'll never quite understand about Henning's offense.

I've seen them try to use Mangum in that role somewhat, but I agree that it's not an official part of Henning's offense. However, I agree with Proprietor that it should be.
