There really isn't a position in this coming draft class that is deep other than LB and there is a good mix of player types. You've got throwbacks like Hawk, Carpenter and Posluzny who are just tough as nails and play with thier heads as much if not more than thier bodies. Then there are guys like Greenway who have the speed and agility of a DB coupled with the instincts and tenacity of a LB.
WR looks pretty deep on paper, but I am not sold on this class just yet. The true talent at WR might come in the later rounds where the posession WR's will be found. The TE's look better than the WR's as a draft class.
CB looks pretty decent as well.

RB is top heavy, as usual, with Williams, Bush and a few others that should be good and then a huge drop off...QB is even worse, IMO, I don't see alot of complete talent there. Clutier from Vandy could be the best of the class when all is said and done and one would expect Leinert to be solid in the NFL.

Haven't looked at O-line/D-line enough to really say anything there, but there was alot of talk about the DT's early on, which has been all but muted as the season has gone on.

I haven't even started logging my draft stuff for '06 yet, but this thread reminded me that it's about time to start gathering data and throwing this stuff together...DRAFT GEEKS UNITE!!! :thud:

I couldn't disagree more. LB is definitely the deepest, and it's the strongest LB class I've seen in a very long time (I'm not coming up with a better one, in fact, but I imagine there was one). But as stated, I think the WR class is probably the worst one I've ever seen, while TE is both deep and excellent. Meanwhile CB looks like the top heavy group to me. Everyone loves Jimmy Williams and maybe one or two others, but I don't see much depth there.
Again, I very, very strongly disagree with both of those statements. RB has a ton of depth. Hell, a guy with legitimate potential like Cedric Humes is just the 16th best RB according to GBN's list. Meanwhile QB also has a ton of guys who have legitimate talent but are flawed in one way or another. Drew Olson and Charlie Whitehurst are both low in the QB rankings, but neither are a Randy Fasani. I definitely think that a lot of them will bust, but it's a deep and strong class of QBs.

I agree with you on the WR's, I was saying I don't feel as strongly about the class as some do. Seeing lots of posession type WR's but no gamebreakers as we've seen in the last few years, not one name sticks out. Same with QB's, lots of guys with flaws but there is some upside here and there.

Probably should have lumped the RB's with the statement about OL/DL, cuz I really haven't looked at them much at all...so I couldn't argue the point one way or the other.

I don't see alot of great talent at CB, call it the year of the nickle back...maybe that would even be a stretch, but there are some guys there that should be future starters. Not alot, but some development players are there.

Again, I really haven't done enough on it yet just throwing it off the cuff. Probably should have just not put anything out there at all, I guess?

Nah, I look forward to your input. I only have vague impressions so far, but I'm hoping I'll feel like poring over the bowl games to do some legitimate scouting.

After this season, I'm hoping we draft the best available RB with the first pick. I don't think Deshaun is going to cut it. Top RB's available according to GBN:

    # *Reggie Bush 5-11, 200 Southern California
    # *LenDale White 6-1, 235 Southern California
    # *Laurence Maroney 5-11, 205 Minnesota
    # DeAngelo Williams 5-9, 215 Memphis (X)
    # *Michael Bush 6-2, 250 Louisville
    # Joseph Addai 5-11, 210 LSU
    # *Brian Calhoun 5-10, 190 Wisconsin
    # Jerome Harrison 5-9, 200 Washington State
    # Leon Washington 5-8, 210 Florida State
    # Andre Hall 5-8, 205 South Florida
    # P.J. Daniels 5-10, 210 Georgia Tech (X)
    # Gerald Riggs 6-0, 215 Tennessee
    # DonTrell Moore 5-10, 210 New Mexico (X)
    # Wali Lundy 5-10, 215 Virginia (X)
    # Taurean Henderson 5-9, 205 Texas Tech
    # Cedric Humes 5-11, 235 Virginia Tech
    # Mike Bell 6-1, 212 Arizona
    # Damien Rhodes 5-11, 217 Syracuse
    # Shermar Bracey 6-0, 225 Arkansas State
    # Jerious Norwood 5-11, 205 Mississippi State

I'd like to get DeAngelo Williams, but I also think we can look somewhere else and still get someone like Daniels, Lundy, or Humes in the fourth round.

Lendale White sure would be nice. How does he compare to Ronnie Brown?

Maybe not quite as complete, but hard to say since Bush got a lot of the pass plays; bigger, built more like Eddie George but George got a lot of pre-draft shit for being "fat" when it turns out he was in good shape, just didn't have the 40 that people expected so he was deemed chunky. Lays the shoulder better than similar big backs with speed like the louisville combo of Bush and Shelton, should be a very productive inside runner. He does have some issues picking a hole right now, but with that does come some elusiveness. You'd simply have to refine his abilities to hit a hole hard. I don't think vision is a concern.

He does benefit from having tons of tools around him and a great line, but so does Bush.

It's worth noticing since I don't think anyone's talked about it, but Ken Norton Jr. is the Trojans' LB coach and Lane Kiffin moved up to OC after Chow left.

Joseph Addai's one I have my eye on, in a style similar to Foster's.
