Looks like a slow day while we wait for more news, so how about a draft exercise with a few parameters.

    (GBN's new top 100+) http://www.gbnreport.com/2007top100.html

assumed Terrence Holt (or equivalent) signed in Free agency, Chris Draft resigned, and Zampese is the new OC.

    Have at it.

I've done ZERO/ZILCH/NADA research on this years draft...usually I have my own data compiled, but I just haven't felt like putting that kind of time into it this year???

    14 - Patrick Willis LB 6-2, 230 Mississippi
Solid LB, maybe a little over rated, but good character guy. Would also consider Levi Brown as OG, Jarvis Moss, and one would have to jump on Teddy Ginn Jr. if he were still on the board.

    46 - Brandon Meriweather FS 6-0, 190 Miami
Skilled FS...I can't stand the guy or where he comes from...would rather go with Victor Abiamiri, Blades or Earl Everett, depending on the first round selection.

    78 - Anthony Gonzalez WR 5-11, 195 Ohio State
Gonzo would be a nice #3 with his ability to find open space and sure hands and he has return ability. Would also look at Aundrae Allison (has return skills, right?) OR if we already had a WR/RS maybe move down for Scott Chandler or Kevin Kolb. Chandler would be the pass catching TE that we have lacked and he is still improving as a blocker and Kolb would be a nice guy to have waiting in the wings!

14.) Patrick Willis, LB Ole’Miss ~ Even with Draft resigned, I’m going Willis at #14 because I want to turn our recent weakness into a strength. He’ll project at weakside until Morgan is injured.

    46) Johnny Lee Higgins, WR UTEP. I’m curing our KR woes early. He is also, an outstanding WR prospect for down the road.

    78) Matt Spaeth, TE, Minnesota. I’ll assume we’ll still need a TE who knows how to block with Spaeth can do very well, he can also get open and catch the ball.

    112) Stewart Bradley OLB, Nebraska. Depth.

    14. Laron Landry, S - if Draft is back, and Morgan tries we could be ok at MLB. Our S's are flat out poor. Landry is an instant starter along side Minter.

    46. Anthony Waters, LB, Clemson - this guys is a monster, and assuming his knee is showing good progress will be ready to go by camp. If he wasn't hurt, he's a first rounder. If he isn't ready Draft can fill in for a year.

    78. Chansi Stucky, WR, Clemson - I'm NOT a Clemson fan....but Stuckey solves our PR and KOR issues, and has skills similar to Steve Smith (albeit not as strong). A nice 3rd WR and kick returner is good use of this pick.

    112. Matt Spaeth, TE, Minnesota - Mackey award winner. Good blocker, good receiver and an instant upgrade over Mangum, Gaines.

    14. Landry - tempted to go with Willis and then Merriweather but Landry is too good to pass up.

    46. Johnnie Lee Higgins - Keyshawn insurance and provides a return man.

    78. David Harris - another linebacker to our mix

    111. Scott Chandler - maybe Jake wont over throw a tight end who is 6'7"

Since Pitch got my first two picks, I'll change it up and start with offense since it under achieved this year.

14 - Sidney Rice WR we know what happens to this offense without enough weapons. This gives him a year to get hungry in case Key stays.

47 - Eric Weddle S Utah Good value at a need spot

78 - David Harris LB Michigan He will probably rise higher than this spot

111 - Matt Spaeth TE Minn Versatile TE

anywhere I lay my head I'm gonna call my home
    assumptions:
Zampese, one average veteran safety, one decent free agent TE, re-signing Draft with intentions of him playing the WLB role but we all know he'd end up inside, and Key returns or equivalent #2 guy signed.

14: Landry - he's not any less cliche than is Willis, but he's a better player at least.

46: Charles Johnson - on the rise, Johnson's a good speed rusher.

78: David Harris - sturdy ILB, popular pick

112: Matt Spaeth - another guy we all know. I'd also have taken Kyle Young if still here, but he'd have to move to G.

Note in the original post I had mentioned "assumed Terrance Holt or equivalent safety signed in FA"
