He most likely was only going to play one more year anyway. Why not let him go out a Panther. He's a great leader and he never shot his pregnant girlfriend or did steroids. And he was fat enough to stop the run game.

What did he do as a Panther? Play football and get paid alot?

It's business. 34 years old. Football. Cap savings. Gone.

God - I hope Jenks is healthy.

    Think Rucker goes?

    No.
    He really wasn't.

I guess they wanted him to retire. Personally I felt he had enough left to give for another year.

Wonder what this means now? I certainly hope it doesn't mean we're going in with Carstens starting, and Ellison/Moorehead/midrounds draft pick starting.

It also means I'm heavily leaning toward DT in the first at this point.

He was integral. Holding penalties aside (and wtf was that about, anyway?), he was still a fine player. He was the guy who called stunts, who tipped off our other linemen about things on tape, he was a big reason we've had line success.

I am in agreeance on all points. I don't like the cut, not when Jenkins hasn't played in two years.

I don't like the move either but it has nothing to do with sentimental reasons.

It does have the feel of 'forced retirement', but it still sucks. He's been an important part of this team for several years. I'm gonna miss him.

And yeah... DT in the first round just got a lot more likely.
