Because of my complexion, he use to call me Darkness. He calls me and my brother Darkness. The Darkness Brothers. See, this is long before Wesley Snipes. Back then... we was the blackest niggas on the planet according to Rick James.

if we wore black on black, Beason would look like a silver helmet and a number.

Agreed. Its not his fault at all that he keeps getting hurt. But like so many great college players, he's just not an NFL player. Having a body that doesn't break much is one of the requirements.

If he does happen to come back this year, I'd be willing to use him outside some, in place of Diggs.

Agree that Diggs on the outside is not a downgrade from Seward in the middle. The middle is a more important position. And it seems to be Beason's natural position. Agree he looked better there.

I see Beason as our future at MLB. Since he is ready to handle it now I say we go ahead and leave him there. I thought he and Davis looked good yesterday, they showed their speed. That one play where Beason was covering Bush and got sucked in on the run fake but still made up the ground for the tackle was pretty good. I remember Davis chasing him down from the back once too. Morgan is probably not coming back this year anyway. A torn achilles is pretty bad even if it is partial.

I'll reiterate or regurgitate the need for leadership. I think the middle lends itself to that role. It may be early for him to assume that role, but I believe if he has that trait, it can't come soon enough.

If I remember correctly we could only keep Morgan or Witherspoon and we picked Morgan?

If that's how I remember it, then we really screwed up.

Beason seemed to play well. It didn't really matter much, though, as the pathetic saints offense pretty much dominated the TOP and converted 3rd downs with ease.

The Cards offense is actually good. And then there's the Colts.

Beason playing well in an overall defensive effort like that doesn't really get me happy.

Still - he didn't break anything, and he seems promising.

no. We wanted to keep both, we just signed Morgan first, didn't get a deal done with Witherspoon that same year, and allowed ourselves to not get him done. He was the one to sign first, because he had the RFA year that Morgan didn't have (essentially, Morgan was under contract anyway, for two more years, where Witherspoon had to be negotiated in RFA - we signed Smith instead of going to RFA).

Neither were guys we couldn't lose. If Morgan was a leader, he's a lot harder to lose. But we had the track record of success when we had a solid player in behind him.
