It's actually very hard to find good WRs in free agency. The best you can do, generally, is attempt what KC did last year with the "replace in the aggregate" strategy. But that's ignoring:

    A) KC has God at quarterback
    B) KC has a hall of fame offensive coach

It's also very hard to get an instant return out of a drafted TE. Those players take years to develop.

Maybe Young or Stroud will become awesome NFL quarterbacks, but without DJ, who is a #1 WR, you're back to square one at the skill positions. You have a solid (but not at all elite and suddenly banged up) offensive line and a solid playcaller. It's not miserable but it's not a great situation to develop a rookie QB from. Cam probably doesn't become Cam had he not walked right in to Steve Smith, Olsen, Shockey, the RBs, Gross, and an OC who knew exactly what to do with him.

The 2024 free agent WR class is even worse than I feared. The only guy on Moore's level who might make it to market is Higgins, but ultimately I think Natti will figure something out.

So you'd have to trade for a guy, which is hard to do without a 1st.

Only thing I know is that you can't win the lottery if you don't play.
The Panthers just bought one of the higher value lottery tickets.
A Super Bowl would be winning the lottery.

Philadelphia dominated the regular season and came within a shitty call of winning a Super Bowl with a second round QB. There are smarter ways to build a winner. The Panthers just aren't one of those smart teams.

You can also end up like the Chargers. You can get the Chad Thundercock QB who's stuck in a crappy organization. The Arch Manning outcome still exists in the NFL.

The bucs and rams realized the actual odds of winning the lottery and just bought the shit they wanted outright. The nfl does give teams a modest multi hundred dollar annual allowance.

Problem is, that if we kept Moore, with nobody to throw to him, then we would continue to be having the "we need a franchise QB" conversations. If the QB turns out well, many guys will look good at WR. Most good QB's make the WR's look better than they are once they go to a new team

Also, many WR's like TY Hilton, Adam Theilan and others will be available for 2 or 3 yr deals.
I expect the LSU WR to step up now and make a name for himself. Rhule did not play him for some reason.

Buying all the right pieces still doesn't guarantee you win. What the Rams accomplished that one season was an outlier and certainly not the norm.
Not everyone agreed that the Cam pick was the right one at the time, but the vast majority were excited for the team when he got to Charlotte.
I think Young or Stroud would be as easily accepted. That level of excitement wasn't here for the Bridgewater, Darnold, Mayfield choices and it turned out rightly so.
Now that it is known that the first pick is a QB, then what should the remaining picks be spent on?

Again, I'd like to see WR Parker Washington being picked at some round by the team.
Does no one at TBR think that the new staff could turn Thomas or Trimble into a pass catching weapon?
Looking back at this past Super Bowl, Kelce always seemed to wide open. Did it mean that Kelce was just that good or did mean that KC had so many weapons or was it superior play calling by Reid or was the defense just so bad that Kelce got lost in the shuffle?
Does Kelce ever block? All I ever see him doing on highlights is route running.

I want to see QB and receiver play get to the anticipation level at Carolina.
Cam was a reactionary QB. He most times seem to actually wait till the receiver was open and turned around before he delivered the ball. I want to see the ball going to where the receiver is going to be. Can it get to that level with the Panthers?

On defense I want to see someone opposite Burns get pressure and still contain the edge.
I want to see runs stuffed at the LOS on a consistent basis.
I want to see enough team speed to have multiple players swarm the ball carriers.

I want to see a coaching staff not afraid to take some chances. That makes the opposing team not get comfortable.

I want the TV talking heads to make it sound like the Panthers aren't a joke.
Not a team that could win, but be a team that should win.

Can any or all of that be done in the upcoming season?
