Daniel Jeremiah, who I respect a lot, did his mock saying that there were no trades in there, but he expected them. You are correct, I don't think we'd sit there and take an Olineman, dropping back to early teens makes sense. Not a great overall draft this year as many say there aren't but about 15 guys with a 1st round grade. So I hope we don't drop back into the mid twenties

Skoronski starts to make a ton of sense once you realize both guards might be out week one, and one of those guards is the weak link of the line.

I'd love that pick, actually. It gives you a bunch of options beyond 2023.

Yeah I keep waiting for the "trade down" draft and if there was ever a year to make that happen this is it. Aside from three or four defensive guys that are sure thing top half of the 1st players there is not likely to be anyone at 9 worth picking at 9. Half of the 8 teams ahead of us will be smart enough to realize the above and not buy into the QB reach.
So who might be a trade partner? Who is going to be crazy about some guy that they know will be gone by their pick to trade up to 9?

BTW - Smitty is at his best above and his input is awesome. I think Gonzalez is likely to be a future NFL star but he may struggle for a few years. Carolina needs a few defensive players at key positions who can shine and play consistent solid D immediately.
Anybody have an idea of how to get a cb to pair with Horn?

I wonder what we are going to expect of them in the new 34 base. Island guys?

TN and NYJ both need an OT really bad, so if OT is BPA at 9, a drop of 2 to 4 spots might not be bad

Even though a QB is needed, the Panthers can come out of this draft with a day one starter at #9.
At least later on in the season the fans can get a better idea how the new staff does at talent evaluation.
Was there ever a first round pick that every fan was happy with? Even with the Cam pick there were naysayers.
