Looking back at the so called QB competition, how in the fuck did Mayfield win the "competition"?
A QB doesn't suck that bad in games while not being tested at least a little bit in camp.
As talent evaluators, does the coaching staff stink or what?
I think the majority of folks considered the competition a waste of snaps and just declare Mayfield the starter from the beginning.

he was competing against Sam Darnold, and it was never a competition ... whoever Rhule signed would start

be interesting to if SF does pick him up... there's a chance he may not suck on that team

Bad talent evaluators, thought they were better coaches than they were (the root of all 3 QB acquisitions). Fans thought deciding would be easy but coaches like to make things competitive to appear impartial*. My thinking is Rhule had people leaning on him to start baker but figured if it didn't work out he could roll Sam out win and be correct either way. See the first sentence of this post for why things worked out how they did.

*BOB in houston didn't believe in QB comps in camp cause it split your 1st team reps he also benched his starting QB in like 4 straight week 1s so there is some merit to the Rhule method.

He hits the wire...Houston has first option on the wire...SF is 24 on the list.

But when? When Garapolo snapped his foot? Texans have first crack at him until 4pm tomorrow

No shit. Their last 3 possessions ate maybe a minute off the clock? Ridicules. Somehow you just knew Brady was going to pull it off at the end. Fucker needs to retire, the undisputed GOAT

The Bucs are definitely in the driver's seat to get murdered by Dallas in the wildcard round.
