There are more undrafted free agents in the Hall of Fame than No. 1 overall picks, No. 2 overall, No. 3 overall, No. 4 overall, etc. It's not about where you start. It's how you finish. Some hope for the players who will go undrafted today...

In 2017 a total of 466 UDFAs were given this opportunity.
    256 draft picks/ year

and there's only one #1,2 etc. so yeah odds are you'll get a hall of famer when it's 466 tryouts vs 1 Cam Newton.

Obviously we'll hoover up the Baylor/Temple UDFAs

    About Ikem...
I know the same folks that poo-poo'd the pic because he is a reported liability in pass protection will brush aside this stat and mention something about the ACC competition, but still...
The dude seems to have done a mighty fair job. The Panthers seem to have had OL folks that gave up about that many in a game.
Let us see how he does in the NFL.

"Although Ickey is still a work-in-progress as a pass protector, that’s not to say he won’t be effective in holding up against NFL edge rushers. In fact, Pro Football Focus charged him with just three sacks over 500 pass-blocking snaps in 2021."

OL overall looks better on paper except for Erving.

"For our early projection of what the Panthers’ offensive line could look like to start the campaign, we’d say bet on Ekwonu to undertake those all-important duties. That’ll likely leave Christensen at left guard, Bradley Bozeman at center, Austin Corbett at right guard, Taylor Moton at right tackle and Erving at left out."

If Ikey ends up being a RT, just go get yourself a HoF left handed QB. Problem solved, so simple!

These things are in his past though evidently.

If it stays that way then there's no issue.

To add to that, look at the leap he made once he started. The talent is there.

People who don't put in effort until a payday is looming will stop putting in effort once the payday is secured. People who put in effort all the time because they are self-motivated will continue to do so regardless of their circumstances.

Being a D1 QB and not watching film at all for two years is inexcusable. It means that you don't take the position seriously.
