One player per team

Alright guys help me out. You guys are better in tuned to the NFL. No skill players, as I'm watching games this season I want to as Pat Kirwan says, "Take my eye off the Ball" give me some players to watch their battle or technique during a game. To better understand or appreciate the game. Personally I like watching the offensive linemen battle and try to figure out that aspect better

 

The first thing I tell people is to get the book and actually read it:






It's become vogue to act the part of expert before acquiring the knowledge. My mentality is that I'm a lifelong student. Plus, the game is constantly evolving, so the "expert" moniker is an unhittable target. You're always learning. If you want to break away from talk radio bullshit, this book is the place to start.




Me, personally? I'm more into watching the edges (corners, receivers) for two reasons:


A) Most individual matchups happen outside, and I don't need a high football IQ to enjoy individual matchups.

B) Analytics strongly suggest that you build teams on the edges.



The book also has amazing resources for charting games (formation tendencies, run/pass breakdown), a scouting template for draft prospects, a glossery of football terminology (if you have no idea what "running behind your pads" meant, this book explains), and just general, fascinating nuggets on the life of an NFL coach (how the work week is structured, for instance).



Get the book, read the book. There's no shortcut. Do the fucking work.

 

I wish the tv perspective wasn't so small and focused on the QB. One of the biggest reasons I like to watch the game live.

 

There are also AMAZING coaching clinics available on YouTube, if you're more of an auditory learner. I'll compile a watch list/listen list at some point, but my favorite thing to listen to are Kirby Smart coaching coaching clinics. Saban also has great stuff, but Smart takes a lot of the same material and makes it funny as fuck.

 

Hopefully with the move to streaming we get more options on that front. Lots of people don't like when they do whole games with the "madden view" from sky cam but running it as a separate stream should always be an option. same with all 22, side field view but wide (Everyone has a widescreen TV now, producers)

 

Yeah, when the TV is your eye, it is never off the ball.
