Stafford is a tier above Bridgewater, but I'm not sure if he's much better than Goff at this stage. Meanwhile the Lions get a ton of draft ammunition and the option of cutting Goff after 2022.

Stafford won't fold when the play breaks down so that's an upside. And Stafford best o coach was Jim Bob cooter? Be interesting to see him with a fairly talented offensive mind. Detroit better pray they don't get fisher goff.

Re The picks: This was also a salary dump from both teams in a way the rams get a qb that is too costly/good for a rebuilding team and lose a qb that is too bad/costly for a contender. Better to see it as lions get a first for Stafford and a second first for Goff contract/3rd rounder.

It’s worth mentioning that these are also future first round picks, and don’t have quite the value that a first from this year would have.

Panthers offered at least this years first and another "high pick" for Stafford. I'm not ready to ignore the Watson trade talk

where did you hear that PP?
If that’s the case then they would already be ready to move on from Teddy, and they are desperate to push rebuilding aside to win now. Winnng for now is great if your team is already stacked at most positions. .. if not (and the panthers are not) then why so desperate just to upgrade QB?
Has Tepper already put Rhule & company in the hot seat?

It was the #8 pick this year and a later round pick. Not a high one.

The Lions obviously viewed Goff's value at least as a 2nd to have turned down our offer. The 7th and 8th picks together would have gotten them into top 3 territory easy this year. I don't think they're going to take a QB after all.

We have a lot of holes, but we also have some bright young talent and if we had a good QB we're a playoff team. How many losses last year would have been wins with a guy like Stafford or Watson under center? We go from a 5 win team to 10-11, despite our holes.

I stand by my predication that the panthers will "come close" in all these trades

ONLY if we had that upgrade to Teddy THIS season. Next year every circumstance is different, even if some are only by a little.
I guess you never had a science class with “controlled variable” experiments. )
