again, i'm talking about the concept of endlessness. endlessness is really the absence of an end and you can't really prove the absence of something. if we're in the universe, then what's outside the universe? that seems to be equivalent to what's before and after the universe's existence.

speaking of endlessness, i never found the idea of god to really be a suitable answer to the question of how the universe came to be. all it does it bump the question over to god's existence and who created the creator.

Circling back to this because I will probably always find it interesting. I'm saying you're wrong, at least as far as the bold type is concerned. There's no real reason for consciousness to evolve, so I think it's a gift from God. However, it could be something that no one understands yet.

Here's some interesting food for thought. I thought you might enjoy it, so I'm posting it here.

On what do you base the idea that consciousness has no real reason to evolve? Consciousness allows for reflection, improvement in hunting methods, and better ability to predict patterns. Outsmarting larger predators seems like it would be a significant driver as the smartest humans would have more offspring over time, further pressuring the evolution of intelligence.

Currently, the smartest animal on earth is the top predator by a long shot.

Do wolves have consciousness? Do they reflect? Elephants have larger brains than we do, why don't they have it?

I'm not sold that we need consciousness to survive, instinct seems to serve other animals fairly well. And I'm not intending to come across as argumentative, but I do think that the evolution argument is a little lacking.

I've read that a huge part of our development came from our voice box. Basically, because we could talk in a lower pitch we were able to develop language, which could have spawned consciousness as a byproduct maybe. I dunno
