Jimmy G will be available by midseason. Shanahan thinks the Niners can win now and they don't have time to wait for him to get his shit together. He's also high on Nick Mullens. There's speculation that a deal is in the works to trade him to Jacksonville for a 2nd round pick. There's also rumors of Tampa Bay, Miami, and Redskins. SF would eat most if not all of the money due this year and has an opt out at the end of this year.

Has Mullens won at any level since High School?

He won a few last year as the starter with little preparation time and not a lot of talent around him including a stellar 400+ yards and 4 TD's against the Seahawks in Seattle. According to KNBR 680 this morning, Shanahan wants to make the move sooner than later.

I'm guessing Jacksonville makes the most sense for a landing spot.

It makes zero sense for a landing spot. They're getting Foles back by midseason.

Do you really think Foles is a long term solution? It is zero risk for a team that can contend for a playoff spot and potentially get rid of him at the conclusion of the year. Plus, he'll be cheap.

He's not getting traded until a team loses it's starter for the season. Even then, it won't be for a 2nd.

Foles not coming back until midseason could be potentially fatal to their playoff chances. JG could remedy that and potentially be a long term solution for them at QB.

I know better than to say never, but I'm going to be really surprised if they make that move.
