    I don't generally believe a lot of what Rivera says to microphones. Except when he stutters. That's a truth 'tell'. Everything else is grey matter. Especially with the telling follow up of a quick repeat and "..I really do..."

    Adding to this speculation, the Panthers have added former second round draft pick DE Everette Brown to their coaching staff as an assistant LB's coach.

    It means Sam linebacker will have a different body type. Otherwise I don't think the defense will look dramatically different unless you have OCD.

    If you were going to be a true 3-4, you'd typically hire an official "outside linebacker" coach. The fact that this is simply an entry level hire supports my thesis that the 3-4 switch is mostly hot air. We could transition to a 3-4 eventually, but I expect our defense to be almost identical to what we've traditionally run (which hasn't been a true 4-3, either).
