Cam trashing the team in 2012

come on, man! give him a little credit for his pre-snap work. that has improved tremendously. i wanted to draft him, i was ready to trade him for jameis last year, and this year im seeing what i never thought i would see out of cam.

 

But I have to ask.... is he an entertainer and an icon?

 

I certainly am entertained and I'd say to kids especially yes to the icon as well. He's not perfect, but I sure as heck love him and all the team, and am having more fun as a fan then I ever have. That, for me is more then enough.

 

It really isn't.

 

I think he's a bit better than what we expected when we drafted him. I've no blinders either. My point is, would you trade him right now for anybody else as the face of the franchise? He seems to be improving (maybe not mechanic-wise as much) but in many ways. He's not hit his ceiling yet. And besides Olsen, who's he throwing to? Ginn, the as you said more than once, a fucking punt returner? Old man Cotch? Philly fucking Brown? Fucking blond man Bursin? The rook with terrible hands (until the last coupla games)?

There were many folks who didn't want him and wanted others. I'm glad he's ours. Warts and all. We've become nearly perennial winners since he's been here after his first year. 2nd, 1st, 1st, 1st in the division the past four years.

Nobody expected that. I give him a lot of the credit for helping to turn this thing around, as well as Rivera, Gman, et al.

Either way, the team is a good team. And he's been an instrumental part of that. His attitude has become way better than anybody expected. Fans , media or pundits. We now have quite a few player the fans absolutely love to watch play. On and off the field.

 

Honestly, I'm really tired of the "who is he throwing to?" narrative. Ginn has dropped some balls, obviously, but he's created more touchdowns than he's dropped. He's been the most dangerous deep threat in the league this season. Meanwhile Olsen is the best receiving tight end in the NFC and second best in the NFL. Cam, because of his lazy mechanics, still has more than his share of wildly inaccurate throws where he misses wide open receivers. As noted before, Cam has been utterly exceptional in the red zone this season, which is definitely a feather in his cap.

 

What are you arguing about Collin?

That Cam doesn't deserve the kudos we're throwing his way as panther fans?

Or what?

You can't argue his improvement, his play contributions to winning, what he means to the team, fans and community.

That everybody expected this when he was drafted and he's not really all that good?

Nobody said he was Brady in the pocket.

Nobody said he was the only reason we're 13-0 because he's an elite pocket passer, really stronger than a locomotive, faster than speeding bullets and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.

I've been extremely clear, so I don't know why you are struggling so badly to understand it. Cam Newton is not a drastically improved quarterback. He is essentially the same guy he has been for years, with all the same strengths and all the same weaknesses. The team winning colors the perception of people like you. Look at the comments about Gettleman to see the same effect. People have been praising Gettleman because the team is winning only for me to point out that the vast majority of his moves haven't worked. Similarly, when Cam misses a wide open Greg Olsen for an easy touchdown, it fades out of memory because you're intoxicated by winning.

I find this comment annoying because it pretends that I argue for the sake of argument. To easily prove that false, go back and look at past arguments. I was correct over and over again while you guys were wrong over and over again. I argue because I am more knowledgeable and objective than you are.
