He clearly deserves a head coaching job.

I'm feeling he's the next stop on the idiots attempting to fix Stafford train.

I see so many Shula haters commenting in Panther forums about his ineptness. These forums are populated by blue/white collar workers who call themselves experts in pro football, yet their real job is working as a CPA or spending the day ridding someone's computer from a virus.

On the other side, many of the paid experts at ESPN and other sports outlets are calling Shula a bright offensive mind who will entertain head coaching positions during the off-season.

Somebody is wrong. Shula called a good game today against Atlanta and has done much better this year as opposed to 2014. I see merit in both arguments.

It appears he's not the hopeless albatross we originally thought he was....and the same goes for Gettleman. Until further notice, I give them both a pass in lieu of what's going on in Carolina right now.

Other bright offensive minds deserving of an HC position at one point or another: Cam Cameron, Brad Childress, Any Belichick OC, Shanahan the younger, Kubiak.

Also the paid 'experts' at ESPN include Marty Hurney and Greg Schiano. Two people we can say from both anecdotal and subjective evidence were terrible at their jobs in the NFL. When they had them.

The fans aren't complete experts but if that's your evidence that they're wrong you're really not helping your case.

It's easy to think that Shula has done a better job because the team is both winning and scoring points, but the reality is that he's still doing the same stupid shit that was so frustrating in previous seasons. He still calls slow-developing running plays, he still can't design complementary routes to save his life (when is the last time you saw one route open up space for another one?), and he still makes bone-headed decisions on when to run what.

While it's true that the Panthers are near the top in scoring, that is primarily due to short fields thanks to the defense and then exceptional red zone performance (Cam is unquestionably the red zone MVP of the league). In terms of yards per play, Carolina is actually a hair under the league average (5.4 vs 5.5). League average is a significant step up from previous seasons under Shula where the team finished 21st and 22nd. Keep in mind that with largely the same personnel, the Panthers were 8th and 4th under Chudzinski. Shula sucks. If you want to say that he doesn't suck as much as he used to, I won't disagree, but it's like going from AIDS to hepatitis. This has been a magical season so far and I hope that Mike Shula has enjoyed it, but this franchise will be better off if he does get a head coaching job somewhere else.

Hey bro, I'm just looking at the big picture. I read thread after thread four years ago about what an idiot Hurney was, and I agreed with y'all for the most part because of the cap space hell we were put in due to exorbitant contracts.

Maybe we should all eat a little crow now. Hurney had his shortcomings, but he made some damn good draft day decisions, in spite of a few that never panned out.

Same with Gettleman. I wished nut cancer on his fat ass two years ago, but give the man some kudos. He has made some great FA acquisitions. I'm actually beginning to feel like he's a good GM. He straightened out the contractual messes that Hurney left us with in an amazingly short time. I'm not gonna hate him because he's built like the pervert uncle in shorts I hate seeing at the family reunion.

Shula? I personally prefer Chud. But Chud isn't here, so I'll take him. We're #1 in scoring offense, and I don't think that stat could have been achieved with a shitty OC. At least Jeff Davidson isn't here.

Something special is happening here, so I'll back the players, coaches and staff we have until something so overly perverse happens that I can no longer do so.
