    I can't think of many examples of coaches cleaning house to get "their guys" and actually winning games with them. I think of Josh McDaniels and Spurrier in Washington. Usually you have to compromise a bit.

    Jimmy johnson. Pete carroll. Bill Parcells had his favorites too. Interesting that the first 2 made the college transition so should have an advantage in the draft as kelly should. Then again johnson and carroll were transitioning pro concepts across the leagues.

    Those guys were/are willing to put up with egos. Kelly is overly-idealistic and too focused on prototypes. All of the press corners he's signed have sucked.

    Exactly. To be a man, you have to coach men, and players who are pretty out of control as far as their measures of themselves.

    If you can't handle that, you shouldn't coach in the NFL.

    Spurrier at least realized this fairly quickly and accepted that he's better suited for college.

    To be clear, I think Kelly is a legitimately good NFL head coach, but he'd be better if he stopped making shitty personnel moves.
