Michael Sam, DE Missouri, will enter the draft as the first openly gay player. At least he won't have any trouble wearing all that pink during the NFL's Breast Awareness Month.

I guess Hard Knocks will have an easy time deciding what team they want.

And Goodell is probably thrilled something got NFL/reefer off the front page.

He was already a fringe prospect who was a longshot to make a roster next season, so this might not help his chances. If that happens I'm going to be annoyed by all the inevitable discrimination stories even though he wasn't that well thought of before this revelation.

    edit:
Looks like some sites had him as a third rounder, so maybe not as fringe as I thought.

I can't wait to listen to Tirico/Gruden try to describe him play while avoiding any potential innuendo

Sam with great pene... block defeation on the run play

This guy Sam, man he reminds me of a guy we had in Tampa named Simeon Rice and neither him nor simeon would let go of sack...

All American and co SEC defensive player of the year. If Hardy goes as expected I hope teams avoid him and we get him in 5th or later.

Want nothing to do with him. I expect him to be Everette Brown like (edit: with a LOT more baggage). Tweener. Draft guru that I am ;-)

Frank Alexander was Co-Big 12 Conference Defensive Player of the Year. They're actually similar players in having good motors but not being strong, fast, or using great technique. I don't care if a guy sucks dick in the parking lot if he can help the team on game day, but Michael Sam probably can't.

Maybe. I just don't want to waste an earlier pick on him like Hurney would have

Takes conviction, but I'll stop short of calling it courageous. He'll probably make a better living off of this than he would as just a middling backup defensive end.
