That's a common thing I'm reading this offseason. It sounds like teams are going to try operate faster and faster. That's great, but I guess you can still suck at high speed.

And defensive coaches are real snappy about the read-option. Flavor of the month, can't last, etc. I don't know, man. Some good athletes playing QB these days.

They did have to hear a whole offseason of wildcat lust before it became almost non existant their skepticism isn't unwarranted

I still think it's a good way to break in a young athletic QB, just not to the extreme that Shanahan & Son did. Do it four or five times a game, have play action off of it, triple option off of it. Much more sophisticated than wildcat.

It sounds like Tennessee might be primed to do it excessively with Locker, which I guess is better than forcing him to be a pocket passer.

The big thing is having a QB who knows how to run it well. Cam waited much too long to make decisions which limited the HB when he did hand the ball off. Most of the time you want the HB to get the ball, you just want the possibility of the QB run to freeze a defender.

Yeah, he really did wait too long.

I'd be more relaxed if Cam were around the facilities more, and he'd leave Auburn behind to concentrate on his present career.

New OC, potentially new wrinkles in the system, I'd like him to be well prepared, and to be able to make decisions fast.

looking at what Fedora has done at UNC with a faster paced offense, I'm all for it. the clock runs faster in the pros, dont know if Cam will ever be as efficient as a Brady or Manning, perhaps getting him more snaps is the way to go...plus he thrived in it at Auburn.

The 49ers had the slowest-paced offense in 2012.

ok. that works for them. how many years of good drafting would we need to have a defense as good as theirs?
